How does trading here work exactly?

I was wondering how the trade system worked on this site. Do you just send cards off and hope that the random guy online does the same? Is there a way to ensure that you send your cards and get what you traded for? Please explain in depth. Thank you!
I believe there is also a way to 'Black list' people who are conning their trades

Trade with people who are active on site and have a good trade history. You can also look at the binders of the people they had past trades with to see if there was a problem, as lots of people will put up warnings about other traders.

A couple useful tips from my experience (over 100 trades online)
good, professional communication is the foundation of every trade. Even if it's bad news. Keep your cool and treat it like the legitimate business transaction that it is.
track your end. Every time if you can even if it's small. Less stress for you and your trade partner. Also if it gets lost, you can prove you sent it

Forgot to mention. On my profile linked is an article written by our admin epoch and a video by respected mtg community member Tolarian Community College. Between the two is just about everything you could possibly need to know

If you're a well known trader on here, you normally require new or users who have less than X trades to send first. Until you build "street cred" among the T/O community, you'll most likely have to send your cards first. When they receive, they will send their end. I wouldn't make any trades with anyone that hasn't made a good amount of successful trades as that is how you get burned.
So to answer your question, if you wanted to trade with me, as a new user I would require you to send your cards first. Once I receive them, I would send my end. If the amount of cards we are trading is over $30, I would ask that we both sending with USPS tracking.
Hope this answers your question! Of course other users have different rules, but what I described is fairly common on TappedOut.
