I'm VERY confused on how to properly customize my username to how I actually want it. Maybe if someone with more tech skills then my self can help me out? I am looking to have my name to fade through Black to White to Red if that makes sense? With a white shadow as well. If the font can be changed I would also like it in Lucida Calligraphy

I know where to do it. I just don't have the skills to do so. Mainly this is a way of asking someone to either teach me in a way I will understand or if someone can do it for me.

You use HTML, like vampirelazarus said.
For a good name thread, use Custom names, who does them?. The main thing from there is this code: #color;text-shadow:#colorofshadow 0px 0px 10px; font-family:desiredfont;
Where it says "color," you put in the 6-charecter hexadecimal code. For a list of all of them, look here.
"colorofshadow" is another hexadecimal number which will show up as your shadow color.
"desiredfont" is where you would put Lucida Calligraphy
If you want to change the size, you put "font-size: XXX px;" after font-family, where XXX is the size you want your text to be.
You need to repeat that code every time you want to change anything.

For some reason, the only thing that changes my font is when I enter "Helvetica." Things like cooper or times new roman have no effect.

Meat it might be your browser. Try in a different browser if you can.

I just updated my name, but only those two fonts are showing up, that why my name appeared like that.

You can only change your name color once you upgrade. It costs $5 to upgrade.
