Is TappedOut dying?

TappedOut forum

Posted on Nov. 19, 2020, noon by Inkmoth

Lately, I have noticed a trend in two of the most popular Discords refusing to take TappedOut lists/primers over Moxfield's. The cEDH DDB made an announcement to use anything BUT Tappedout and it seems like PlayEDH is following in suit, so my questions are:

  1. Anybody know why?
  2. Are the handlers of TappedOut aware of this?
  3. Is there anything in motion to swing the tide back our way?

yeaGO: Bummer. I shall keep advocating for us. If it isn't too much trouble, may I ask who you reached out to?

Nonsense. I reached out to the person that made the announcement in the discord.

yeaGO: Do you know which discord, specifically? And if other attempts can also be made in the other prominent Discords? It would go a long way.

  1. cEDH Nexus
  2. DDB (cEDH Database)
  3. PlayEDH

CEDH Decklist Database yeah?

I wish I had the bandwidth to make it a part time job to track down whoever is in charge of these things. Any interested party can contact me, I am not in hiding. Suffice it to say that if they were interested in some dialog I think I would have heard from them by now.

yeaGO: Unfortunately, that is the issue. They seem to snubbing T/O as a whole, with seemingly no intentions of having a dialog about it. I can procure the names of these moderators, if you would like.

  1. DDB (cEDH Database) #maynardferguson#6343
  2. PlayEDH: Majorian#1002

cEDH Nexus has muddled their moderating community with the DDB, so they adhere to whatever the DDB does.

I mean I tried to talk the site up but the moderator on the facebook page seems to have it in his head that the site isn't secure and is ugly. Even though tappedout has some of the most interesting deck list layouts.

RNR_Gaming: I am currently in a discussion for it on the CompetitiveEDH Facebook group with Braden and other members (Subject:Moxfield v Tappedout: Why do you use one and not the other). According to the moderator of the Heliod Discord AND monoblack discord, he tried to bridge the gap between T/O and the cEDH community by reaching out to the owner(s) of T/O. I'm trying to obtain his online handle to check the validity of that statement.

Also, yeah, what's up with the "security" mentions? Why do they think it isn't secure?

Just kind of sucks that people have to port their decks to another site just so they have a chance of getting on the database. Granted, it's not hard but I'm sure some people would prefer to not go through the hassle. Especially, the users with the really cool formatted lists. Don't think you can port some of the over lays and cool panel designs you can do here.

I may not use it often, but TappedOut is, at least in my opinion, prettier than Moxfield or untap. I definitely think that the community can get heated sometimes, but that's applicable to any community. Plus, from what Ive seen its very easy to get to know people on here.

It disheartens me that a moderator would make a comment like that and then not apologize for it. I mean, c'mon, were all playing the same game! Best of luck in your inquiries, yeaGO.
