Can we please get this deck (Naggers) removed? Is there actually no way to report decks on this site? C'mon people.

Yea, why would it need to be reported? I understand that it is a very racist deck, but isn't that like.... The freedom of speech? Basically, it's just a joke. Like I could say:

"I don't understand why Curse of the Swine is blue. It should definitely be white!!"

tempest: It takes a little reading between the lines. The guy comments on the card being green rather than black. That, in conjunction with the deck's name (a fairly heavy-handed allusion to a racist term for black people), demonstrates the deck maker's intended comparison between black people and monkeys.

Whould this deck (White Pigs) also needs to be removed?

TheRaven: Freedom of speech guarantees that the government will not censor you. It does not guarantee that an independent website must allow hate speech to remain published.

In addition, your comparison to Curse of the Swine is misguided- there is no historical background for White people being compared to pigs. There is, however, a historical background for black people being compared to monkeys, and a demonstrated harm when that comparison is used to justify anything from slavery to Jim Crow.

TL;DR- A racist joke is still racist.

ok. well, it was a fairly new deck and not publicized at all. maybe, if this thread wasn't created, the deck would just be lost in the however many decks on T/O. yes, its racist, but thats just how some people are.

Oh good. I'm glad some of us are deciding to match racism with racism.

Grow up.

Does this fall into the same category as the vampire deck which comes up every now and then? Or is this (a far more blatantly offensive "joke") over the line? I feel like it should be. The whole point of the deck is a racist joke (which isn't even funny or creative), whereas the vampiric waffle house is at at least a legit deck, just with an offensive name.

Not trying to stir up old controversy (hence not linking, but you know it) just trying to get an idea of what is and isn't against the not-rules-but-rules.

The_Raven Many people has the idea that freedom of speech is a right to say whatever you want, and thats really not the case. And who cares about freedom of speech in this case? Should one be a complete asshole in this community just because he might be allowed by law?

And what the fuck, TomSawyer1. Was that deck supposed to be funny, or just to showcase what tragic and narrow minded hillbilly you are?

The reason people post decks like this is to get a reaction. Looks like they got what they wanted. Just understand that the people who want to post decks like this are the same people that spray paint "white power" all over the small towns in my state. These are the same people that don't realize that you shouldn't spray paint the words "white power" on "stop" signs. Just let the dummy be a dummy.

Annoying people. Naggers. The deck is annoying people. At first I thought the joke was very lazy but now I see there may be some meta layer to it. Needs more Invoke Prejudice though.

Before the account was deactivated saw that this deck was the only activity on the account which signed up like 5 minutes before posting the deck. In the future some of us may want to avoid feeding the troll with bile slinging, name calling, and getting our knickers all twisted up. Just quietly report it.

Close this thread before it gets out of hand. We do not report offensive decks on this site because it is not our place to do so. What garners as offensive to one person is not the same criteria as what garners as offensive to another. Move along and get through your day.

Femme_Fatale: "What garners as offensive to one person is not the same criteria as what garners as offensive to another"

You have seen the deck we are discussing, right? Its not a questing if someone could get offended or not, its straight up rasism.

This raises the question of what is OK to publish on your site. Clearly you think its OK to publish a deck named "Naggers" (well... Niggers, implied, how clever) thats comparing black people to Hooting Mandrills. Where do you draw the line? Is there even a line?

November 4, 2015 2:34 p.m.

I draw the line at people turning these issues into public spectacles instead of being mature enough to quietly report them and let the people in charge determine whether it has gone too far.

Closed.

Articles and comments are user-submitted and do not represent official endorsements of this site.

From what I can tell the staff here are very laissez-faire in regards to this sort of thing, only removing it in this case because it was basically just vandalism. Both things I approve of. Were it not a sockpuppet account there may be some context where it was a joke between users, one that may offend some but not others, that is where the line about "we do not moderate offense" comes in.
