I've suggested this before but: WYSIWYG Comment/Post editor?
TappedOut forum

With the recent inclusion of the mana symbols, loyalty cost symbols etc I think this would make commenting and posting ten times easier, if we could just input the symbol directly into the editor, or for example, select a button ("Add Card") that prompts you to select/search for a card and place it right into the post.
For those of you who dont know, WYSIWYG ("What you see is what you get") editors are the kind that you'll see on most forums, where instead of typing the code yourself, you select an option, and it plugs in the code for you, then instantly previews the post instead of the code.

@yeaGO: Check the Trello. I added a card yesterday for rich text editors. Some of the ideas might interest you.

Also, we need some sort of emojies. Seriously.... Why is no one making smileys?

While we're on the topic of the posting system, can we also get the site to recognize "smart" punctuation marks? The text fields don't recognize smart apostrophes or smart quotation marks (the kind that automatically bend toward the text), which makes it annoying to quote rules because you'll have missing punctuation unless you manually replace those marks.

cool. i need to get that trello board back rocking. i was scrubbing it of stuff that no longer was needed or was already done. but i will take a look.
'smart' punctuations? i think you mean like MSWORD ones? Isn't there a markdown quoteblock you could use...?

I'm not sure.
As far as the punctuation goes, yes. If you try to paste in something from Word or a PDF (or even from the rulings on magiccards.info), quotation marks and apostrophes disappear in the preview and final product because the system doesn't recognize them. If you want to keep the marks, you need to replace them manually.

I agree though some WYSYWYG editor would be cool

Just tried the blockquote tags, and they don't help those marks show up.

Examples:
Direct copypaste:
4/26/2014: The cost reduction created by Battlefield Thaumaturges first ability can reduce only the generic portion of the spells total cost. Colored mana requirements arent affected.
Blockquote:
4/26/2014: The cost reduction created by Battlefield Thaumaturges first ability can reduce only the generic portion of the spells total cost. Colored mana requirements arent affected.
Actual text:
4/26/2014: The cost reduction created by Battlefield Thaumaturge's first ability can reduce only the generic portion of the spell's total cost. Colored mana requirements aren't affected.
Interestingly, the text field doesn't completely ignore the smart marks. Spellcheck recognizes them as legitimate punctuation.

I'd definitely like to see a feature that autocloses HTML tags at the end of every post. Somehow. Is that a thing we can do?

Now that would be cool. Also even maybe a drop-down list of html tags so that users with a small or large knowledge of HTML can still make use of the sites HTML posting methods

Well, the HTML is easy enough to learn if you care. If anything, a rich text editor would be better (show them the icons rather than the code) for that purpose.
I'm more concerned with closing out any open HTML tags so formatting doesn't spill down the rest of the page.

There are some tags that are horrendously annoying to type out, that's my only concern. I have a background in HTML4 and HTML5, it was more of a "make this even easier for us please" request lol
