Legible Card Viewing

With so many secret lair's or other artistic reprinting of cards, it makes it difficult to quick know what card you are looking at when you hover in a deck list or playtest a deck.

Is there a way currently to make other users decks show their cards in the most basic/legible version of the card? IF not, could we get an option to show something like a cards first printing? I think that would really help people looking at new decks with cards they might have never played with before.

Looks like we need a new "skip as latest" sort of thing.

Skip as latest was originally created for this specific reason, as masters sets and other reprint products gave more expensive versions that the large majority of people didn't want.

The problem is that it breaks cards that are new, and WotC just had to put new cards into secret lair, so it can't be skip as latest anymore.

Either that or we just make skip as latest auto-ignore initial printings of cards, whatever way is going to cause less issues across the site.

We do not want to go by first printings as a lot of older printings are the most expensive ones.

First printing wouldn't always work either, since some cards have been updated over the years.

yeaGO We cannot because there are new cards in secret lair.

What if we instead have "Show cheapest option"?

You know that the cheapest version will always be "plain", and the card will most likely be a relatively modern printing due to card volume and availability, thus unlikely to get original printings of cards that have keyword/wording changes.

skimask38 The newest printing these days is typically the cheapest, which has often been the Secret Lair. Which is why there needs to be something more robust.

What about just using the first, initial printing as default with the current system for adding specific printings getting an easier interface? That way, with the exception of new SLD cards, the original art is displayed unless specifically chosen as an alternate art printing?

I'm not sure how to go about doing it as coding is not something I am familiar with...

Kcin because then you get ancient cards that are super expensive or with outdated oracle text.

Devs have reworked "skip as latest" so it can now be properly applied to a set without breaking the new cards in that set. Secret Lair, Doctor Who, 40K, LTR and LTC all are now skip as latest for any non-new cards. Report back if there's any noticeable bugs.

I have floated some ideas about giving users the ability to default images to a specific frame where possible, or an option to force all images to select the initial variation. May not come to fruition yet still working things out.
