M14 TO UPDATES
TappedOut forum
Posted on July 9, 2013, 8:35 p.m. by ShadowLand
Hey all, I would like to use this post to try and keep track of what people have added to the M14 Card Set here on TO, and whether or not they have added Images, Flavor Text, Card Number and Artist Info as well so people don't duplicate info as they post them. Just as a courtesy to those who upload as they can, and to make it easier on the site moderators.
ShadowLand says... #3
yeaGO!, feel free to link any missing info or pictures that don't work here as well as you get to sorting through them, or link any moderators who deal with that to this page as well! Thanks!!

I think yeaGO! is going to be a bit busy to handle database updates.
The best way to go about this is probably to reserve chunks of M14 by collector number. That way we can get to work on mass updates without interfering with one another or duplicating cards.
The DB seems slow to update, so just be patient if the card you added doesn't appear right away.
Also, make sure you're using borderless images.

Yep Epochalyptik, I follow you. Although having done a few alphabetically may have messed that up already . . . We would need a fair amount of volunteers to take chunks though, I can grab 1-25 tonight and tomorrow though, and that will knock those out for claiming collectors numbers!

I did Scourge of Valkas in its entirety ( except the last two lines, since I wasn't sure what they were. I got the picture without the border and everything else though. I font believe its been accepted yet.) I'd be willing to be part of a team to get this done. Maybe someone can split up the cards into groups by number and we could assign them to other volunteers?
July 10, 2013 12:49 a.m.
I don't even see M14 as a set under the "Cards" menu otherwise I would've been doing some aid on my day off lol

ShadowLand says... #10
Sure, lets break them up into sets of 25 to start with, I can tackle 1-25 tonight, so need 26-50, 51-75 and 76-100 to start with, then go from there!
July 10, 2013 9:44 a.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #11
I'll take 26-50 then. To make sure I do them right...
What are the last two lines for? (When entering the card information)
Is there a site that has them sorted by number?
July 10, 2013 1:03 p.m.
ShadowLand says... #12
Its the collectors number, you can find it for the whole set at mtgsalvation.com, some if the images you can find there too
July 10, 2013 1:05 p.m.
ShadowLand says... #13
As far as the first of the last two lines, I have never been able to find that info
July 10, 2013 1:07 p.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #14
Ok. I'll get to it. I'll use Google to get the images
July 10, 2013 1:09 p.m.
ShadowLand says... #15
I found that coolstuffinc has a lot of the images as well, they have the whole set on there.
July 10, 2013 1:35 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #16
Although I mentioned this earlier, it's worth repeating. Find (or make) borderless versions of the images. It makes the mouseover easier to read and more sightly.
July 10, 2013 1:38 p.m.
ShadowLand says... #18
Also, even if you don't, a program as simple as paint will suffice to crop out the border as well, I agree Epoch, it is much more sightly

Epochalyptik, who is the one who approves the cards once they have been submitted? Is it something that any moderator can do or just specific people? Just curious
July 10, 2013 1:44 p.m.
Guys, if you could insert all M14 Cards before Pre-Release Event, Tappedout will be the only site that you could practice for the worldwide tournament!!! I think it will gain many and many registrations...

Idea for future sets...?
Have a page where people can go to "reserve" card(s) that they will upload.
Essentially, it would be a list of numbers, from 1-X, where X is the number of cards in the set.
Once a user clicks the check mark beside a number (collector number), no one but that user is able to upload that cards info, the number becomes "greyed" to other users, and others can see who has selected that number, so they can discuss info as needed.
If a user has not uploaded any relevant data on a card they have selected with a certain number of hours... (12?/24?/36?...) it becomes unselected, and is then available for other users to select.
Users can change their minds and uncheck a number at any time.
Moderators can dis-associate a user from a number at any time, in order to expedite the process, allowing themselves or others to add info.
Just a rough idea....
Note: Those looking for information on the cards they are uploading... gatherer.wizards.com now has the complete listing.

I like that idea Rayenous, seems like it might work. Also thanks for that info about the gatherer, if nothing else, those images are consistent.
Link to The Gatherer <--- For those who would like a simple way to get to the link provided by Rayenous
Also, cards 1-25 in the set have been submitted for approval, all with images and all information. I will not unfortunately get to claim any more cards in this set, as I work a 12 hour day tomorrow and I leave for my Annual Tour on Friday.
So good luck to everyone in the Pre-Release and I look forward to seeing the whole set on here when I get back!

@ShadowLand: I now have privs to approve and disapprove card submissions.

Sweet! You rock Epochalyptik!! Thanks for doing so much on here!

Unforgivn_II says... #25
Hey ShadowLand, you saw that all submitted and not yet approved cards were erased right? You're gonna have to do the first 20 again. Good thing I didn't start mine yet...

KrazyCaley says... #26
Also everybody please remember to capitalize properly - most MTG cards, with some exceptions (Clear a Path and such) have all their words capitalized at the start. Had to correct a bunch of 'em last time around.
July 11, 2013 5:46 a.m.
ShadowLand says... #27
Unforgivn_II you want to pick those up for me? I very seriously doubt I will get the time at this point
July 11, 2013 7:26 a.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #28
pyrewild shaman is another that was messed up. And I could probably do 1-50. I have plenty of time today.
July 11, 2013 11:44 a.m.
ShadowLand says... #29
Thanks Unforgivn_II, I just have so much packing and such to do for my two weeks after my 12 hour day at work that I don't know if id get back to it. What was wrong with the ones that didn't get accepted, do you know?
July 11, 2013 1:15 p.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #30
yeaGO! Made some updates to the process of adding cards, and while doing that they got erased. He said it in the other thread.
July 11, 2013 3:31 p.m.
ShadowLand says... #31
Ah, ok. Makes sense. Let me know if you don't get through them all.
July 11, 2013 4:19 p.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #32
Hmm... It seems, ShadowLand, that your cards weren't deleted. Or at least, not all of them. A bunch have showed up. Unfortunately without pictures, even though they have pictures linked. So a couple questions:
Epochalyptik, are there more cards to be accepted still? I just sent in another Ajani, Caller of the Pride , and I dont want to send in any more duplicates.
How long til hovering over the card will bring up the picture?
July 11, 2013 4:55 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #33
I accepted it, but I don't know if it went through because I got a 403 and the submission disappeared. Give it a while and resubmit if it isn't up within 24 hours.
As for the other stuff, there's nothing else currently in the approval queue.
July 11, 2013 5:04 p.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #34
Ok. Most of the 1-25 was accepted, I'll just fill in the gaps. And Ajani was accepted, the picture will probably change eventually

I'm noticing that the other cards have either broken pics or I'm failing to load the mouseovers. Can anyone confirm the problem?
July 11, 2013 5:12 p.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #36
Im having that issue too. Perhaps the pictures need to be on the internet? Not just imported from our local folders? When I try to edit a card, it does have a picture linked, and if you click on it you can see it. But yeah, the mouseovers aren't working and there is no picture for the card on the card's page.
July 11, 2013 5:16 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #37
Oh, yeah that'll probably do it. Try hosting them on photobucket or something.
July 11, 2013 5:21 p.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #38
Well, I just checked Bonescythe Sliver which has been accepted and the mouseover works (even though the borders weren't cropped!). From what I can tell, it should only be a matter of time for the site to update itself. When the picture's link is clicked, it goes to a static site. The one I submitted has the URL format (with different variables obviously). Also, I'm not sure if you can add from the web, the only way to add a picture I can find is by uploading it. Maybe you give give it a shot to see what I'm talking about?
July 11, 2013 5:26 p.m.
ShadowLand says... #40
I have noticed that the site generally updates changes on things around midnight eastern time, so maybe that's when the pics will update themselves?
July 11, 2013 6:51 p.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #41
Perhaps. The other slivers have pictures, but their moseovers don't work and they've been there since before yesterday at least.

So I've nearly finished all of the White cards. But I've reached a problem. I can't make a new subtype. So "Rhino Cleric" for Stonehorn Chanter can't be added in. Help?
July 11, 2013 8:15 p.m.
ShadowLand says... #45
But are they together as a subtype? There is Rhino, and there is Cleric, but is there Rhino Cleric?
July 11, 2013 8:42 p.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #46
That's what I meant, they aren't together. Its not like hubs where you can add multiple

Resurrecting this thread, I realize I may have found the issue with the mouseovers. It could be that JPEGs don't play nice with whatever we're doing. That could also not be the case, but its worth trying .BMP and .PNG . I don't know if the Bonescythe Sliver is a jpeg, but I feel like we should try other things. Or ask someone who knows HTML better (I know nothing more about it than what I've googled).
Also, since I believe Epochalyptik is so popular, I'm assuming he can't afford to subscribe to everything. Thus why I summoned him.
July 15, 2013 3:20 a.m.
Epochalyptik says... #48
I don't know much about the system. I just approve or disapprove the submissions.
I'll check with yeaGO! about the issues. We do need to make a push to finish uploading the data, though. Even if the images are broken, the cards should be up by release day. Absent cards are starting to cause problems with decklists.
July 15, 2013 3:26 a.m.
Unforgivn_II says... #49
Yeah. I can finish the section I committed to tomorrow, and I'll do more if I can. One last thing, any new on the Rhino Cleric issue?
July 15, 2013 3:38 a.m.
It doesn't seem to accept Mindsparker or Goblin Diplomats.
ShadowLand says... #2
So far I have uploaded Alphabetically through Angelic Wall in the card set, including images, flavor text, card number and artist info.
