Modern Showdown Articles?
TappedOut forum

I'm not sure if this is the correct location for this question so if it should be moved, please feel free. I'm wondering if there is, or is a plan for, a set of articles pitting Modern decks against each other? Maybe something similar to the Showdown that Spootyone does for Standard? I would be more than happy to help someone write such an article and playtest on Untap if anyone else is interested.

hmm...
I could do those. It would legitimately help out my Kor Legions deck.
I don't recommend untap though, the shuffler is known to be pretty bad. I'd use another program and see if that works, but we shall see.

Do you know another free platform that doesn't involve tons of downloads?

I already have OCTGN, but that involves downloads. You may be able to put in singleton images though.

I actually normally just use T/O's playtester. It has the best shuffler ever. I'm really good at determining plays as if hands were invisible.

I would love to see this happen. Standard is "fun" and all, but its not my forte. I have been wanting to read up on decks playing that are not necissarily tier 1, maybe 1.5 or 2 while throwing in the occasional tier 1 power deck. Its just not always fun to see or read about Affinity and Twin when they just win on turn 3-4

I am willing to help out if someone wants to get this rolling. Or hell, I am willing to get this rolling. I currently use Xmage for all my testing needs.

If I had the time I would Volunteer but I just don't have it between working Wed, Thu, and Fri, D&D Saturday, running EDH league on Sunday, Modern FNM on Monday...

It seems like a nice idea, I might be able to contribute...

ikr? Tuesday seems good but my fiance, I'm sure, would love to actually spend some time with me too.

I would be happy to playtest and write my side of things on any night except Wednesday and Thursday. I've never been to Xmage, but can certainly try. Right now, I'm trying to run a Modern version of the Junk Reanimator deck that floated around Standard during Innistrad block. Lots of Thragtusk, Resto Angel, Unburial Rites. That sort of thing. Does anyone know how we would go about getting this up and running? I've been a long-time follower of this site, but have never really contributed to the material. haha

I would just mention that I'm up and running and looking for playtesters in the social forum. I already have a thread dedicated for users to say when they are available.

So what has been decided? What is happening that I need to know about, I am very willing to help :)

Well the only online platforms I am familiar with are this one (can't playtest multiplayer) and untap (which has a pretty bad shuffling algorithm) I'd be willing to just deal with untap or if someone else wants to introduce me to another good platform that doesn't require money or tons of downloads, I'd be open to it. I'm free on a fairly regular basis as long as this doesn't start taking exuberant amounts of time.
On another note, I'm getting on untap now to continue testing. My name is the same there if anyone wants to test some modern stuff.

I'm probably just going to use T/O's playtester. The can't playtest multiplayer thing doesn't really hinder my results as I play mainly considering the board state only and as if the opponent didn't make any mistakes (like decides not to tap those lands or do a certain move to alert the opponent to something.)

So maybe we should have several people playtest certain matchups, then write a consensus article about the results? I'd be willing to test and then try to compile results if some others want to help.
Also, I'm looking for help with my Modern brew anyway, so I'd love to feature it in the first article.

So there seems to be a lot of real interest in this series. I'll do some playtesting and write a preliminary article to see how it is received. I'll feature my deck in one slot, but need an opponent. Also, does anyone know to whom I should speak in order to potentially get the articles posted here?
First decklist to respond will make it in the first feature. If this continues, I'll need some help keeping submissions in order and selecting decks to play. Thanks for the interest everyone!

You can do one anewsome, but also send me a deck to face Kor Legions, and I'll write one as well. It takes me a while, but I go through each step by step process of everything during the matches. xzzane and MetaphysicalxProdigy can be my witnesses for such claims.
January 23, 2015 2:15 p.m.
Yup, I can verify this for femme. I would also be interested in submitting old swarmy for this series.
January 23, 2015 2:27 p.m.
Sounds good. As I mentioned, my deck is a throwback to Junk Reanimator from Innistrad standard. Junk Reanimator Attempt. I'll play against Kor and see what happens. Is there a place I can send you my write-up once I've finished? I'd rather it not go public on the site until it's ready.

Tribal wars! That would be awesome. I'd be down for submitting my knights tribal for a modern matchup series (tribal themed or not). If either xzzane or Femme_Fatale would like to pilot my deck that would be fine by me, since you both have before. My school is too demanding right now to surrender even one evening. :(
