Modifying CMC Cost!

You can view CMC cost two ways on your decks, either as a chart or when you use the drop down menu to order it via CMC. It would be amazing if we could modify the CMC cost of cards on these two mediums. This way we could see what the CMC cost of cards that have different costs will be. For example Cyclonic Rift will usually be played at 7 not 2 and Rite of Replication will most likely be want to be played at 9 and not 4. This also makes it so that X-spells are not placed in the wrong categories as well. I'm not sure how viable any of this is but it would be great!

I understand and like the basic concept of this idea. However, it becomes quite difficult to do, when the cost of card's are very special. Does a Fireblast have a CMC of 0? Does Wolfbriar Elemental have a CMC of X?

To fix this, it would be awesome if you - at the end of the card - could add [CMC=7] or something, which would put them into the appropriate category. I don't know if this is possible, though.

Just use custom categories. It's a little more work, but it gets the job done.

@The_Raven That's exactly how I imagined it would work and its up to you how you want to have those cards cost. You can just think of everything past 8 as one slot to make it easier.

@jamesfiek I would just do that but I already use the custom categories to sort my decks via role and there is not option to have to different custom categories. I guess I can make a copy of the deck for sole reason but like I said it would be nice if this could be implemented.

My $.02

The CMC for Cyclonic Rift, Rite of Replication, and any other spell without in its cost will never change. Changing that rule on here would undoubtedly send out some confusion.

Just a nitpick: "CMC" stands for converted mana cost. Writing "CMC cost" is like writing "MPH per hour" or "Rio Grande river."

Or FedEx Express. ;)

To stop the nit pickers, you call it "Actual mana cost" or Potential Mana cost.

I imagine this would be for personal deckbuilding use and not for public view. Sort of like the acquireboard isn't published on your deck.

All I know is that I'm trying to make a Wort, the Raidmother commander deck and it would be great to be able to modify my CMC (there you go I said it right this time) and look at what my curve would be. An alternative would just for X spells to have there own category so that they aren't accidentally lumped in CMC categories due to the amount of mana symbols they have.

Pretty sure custom CMC's, among many other things like custom card colour, are on yeago's radar and extremely long list of "things that'd be nice to do ... when I've got the spare time".
