Name Change?

So I've read all the articles and I've tried all the things... but I just don't seem to have everything down.
Font?
So I know that you can change the font but what if its not a standard font? I like the font DIST Inking ti's a japanese kanji styled font, is it possible to use the font? If so would it display everywhere or just for people who have the font?
Gradient?
I really want to do a gradient from Dark Red -> Black -> Grey and I can't seem to find out how to do that anywhere... I've seen it done before... I just don't know how too...
I tried following this guy's thread Femme_Fatale but I just got lost... so...
This is what I want it to look like
Help would be most appreciated.
So I did use the generator but Where do I put the code, and how can I keep the gradient I have? I tried putting it in with a different color in the "Customize Username" menu for each letter but I was supposed to have a shadow and clearly I do not have that.

Hmmmm... Copy the gradient so you have it saved somewhere, then try doing it without the gradient first... There's also one glitch I know I have to fix. I'll get it done as soon as I can. With the fonts, there's not a super safe way to do it but I'll work on it and get back to you.

Like I said the way it's worded in Femme_Fatale's tutorial, it sounds like you can do custom fonts but if another user doesn't have that font it just shows as default.

DrkNinja, you have to download the free font (must be free/non-commercial use), copy it, install one of them, take the copy and put it into dropbox (or equivalent), do the same with the read-me/legal information, and then use font-squirrel to get your .css coding down. Put the .css file into dropbox with the proper links to the font file that is in dropbox in your .css file. Then, you have to implement the .css file link into your username code.
I honestly get tired of people asking how to code stuff. If you can't troubleshoot and figure it out on your own then you shouldn't be trying to use it. I knew absolutely nothing about coding before this site and I've learned what I know from troubleshooting and google searches. If I can do it, so can you.

You literally don't have to be a dick about it, like I said I tried to follow your tutorial and I just got lost in it. So could you chill. Not cool man

DrkNinja,
Have you checked out rorofat's name widget yet? If not, it'll get you close. It's linked on this thread
rorofat,
I have no idea how to get a non-standard font that will translate to differnt platforms ... wondering if you've found a non-dangerous way to do that ...
