Name colors/font

I apologize in advance because I'm sure this topic has been covered before, frequently, but searching through the many pages of posts seems like quite the annoyance.

Could someone please explain to me how to change the colors and font of my name? I've seen some names with a sort of glow/aura to them which I would like to know how to do as well.

I'm looking for the coding. I already know I can go to my user page and click "Customize", and I looked at the Markdown Syntax page and was pretty lost there, not my forte.

Well, after a little self-schooling/refreshing in HTML I got this far; #0000ff;text-shadow:red 0px 0px 30px ; font-family:Algerian;

The "#0000ff" is changed on each letter so my named is currently Blue/DarkBlue/Black/DarkBlue/Blue. It hasn't updated yet though.

I would like for my name to fade through those colors though rather than just have each letter its own solid color. Could someone please show me how to fade the colors? I found a few other threads after some digging and didn't find anything on fading the text.
