New Ads Making Browser Lag Horribly

TappedOut forum

Posted on Nov. 3, 2015, 2:30 a.m. by HairyManBack

Looking for any suggestions on how to speed up my browser with these new ads on Tappedout. These are flash ads? Not sure. I never have this bad of a problem elsewhere.

I've installed an adblock extension to Chrome solely for this site. But I want to support this site as it's my favorite to visit for Magic stuff.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'd like to help this site best I can!

Seriously though, they are starting to drop out of their ad spots and encroach on the rest of the page. Then they do the auto-play vids that keep going and have background videos, while a layered top video plays with totally different audio.

Just running add block is probably your best bet to deal with these adds, if you still want to support the site upgrading your account with $5 would probably give tappedout more support than you dealing with adds for a couple years. Though simply running addblock until they run less obstructive adds is probably the best way to help improve the site, if changing what kind of adds pop up on site actually lowers revenue change to something hopefully better will try to fix it, while upfront paying for the amount of probably over 500 add views could just encourage laziness.

sorry for the double post but just hopped onto the front page without addblock to see a watch add replace the deck cycle page catagory buttons while also sitting ontop of a few deck titles, some rather funny bit of coding.

And the companies in charge of these ad delivery platforms wonder why adblock is so prolific. >_< But yeah, I haven't run into these monstrosities yet knocks on wood, but will submit information on them when I do.

Dorotheus: Yeah, lots of times when I'm looking at decks or commenting, an ad will obscure a part of the screen.

Also, has anybody noticed the "Ads by CrushArcade" popups everywhere, or is that just me?
