I FUCKING LOVE IT....that is all.

Joshuawesome says... #2

I'm digging it too, however... where do I click to Playtest now?

May 13, 2013 12:45 a.m.

Joshuawesome says... #3

And of course, as soon as I post that, I figure it out. Dur.

May 13, 2013 12:46 a.m.

The Doctor says... #4

lol, i was just about to comment where, too.

May 13, 2013 12:46 a.m.

tempest says... #5

lol. thats pretty cool! i like how the featured card is up top the best. :P

May 13, 2013 12:54 a.m.

I like the new layout too and the fact the featured card is on the top as well. The whole thing seems more organized to me, more professional. Keep it up the awesome work TappedOut!

Kogarashi says... #7

I also love it, especially seeing the featured card on the deck page itself now. Really nice. Everything looks so clean and orderly.

May 13, 2013 2:39 a.m.

Xindlepete says... #8

All these people, they knoweth what be up! :D Agreed yeaGO!, our beneficent leader, you guys do such an awesome job with the site. Keep it up!

Very nice, very nice.

euknemarchon says... #10

The page layout is mostly cool--the ad placement is a problem, though. It's just plain gross because it makes the title area huge. Check out a screenshot.

Also, why am I still getting reminders about my decks being private? After the 500th time displaying the message you'd think the scripts would get that I set them to private.

May 13, 2013 7:58 p.m.

tempest says... #11

its not that bad. check out Tribal Deck: Soldiers. you just need a feature card and the hubs.

the reminders aren't that bad. you're not going to die

May 13, 2013 8:12 p.m.

Xindlepete says... #12

@euknemarchon: If the ads bother you, it's a handy little thing called Google Add Block (for Google Chrome). Just saying. And agreed, a tiny notice reminding you the deck is private really isn't that big of a deal.

May 14, 2013 12:09 a.m.

euknemarchon says... #13

Yeah, I'm not blocking ads. TO deserves my contribution to its ad revenue.

If you guys think a design is fine because it looks cool on the decks used by people most likely to eventually pay for premium, fine. But regarding the rest of us who never plan to go premium, will never use images, and use tappedout only sporadically, I want TO to know before I (and therefore the ad viewers) go somewhere else because the interface is gross.

On the privacy reminder...trust me, I'm not the only one who gets annoyed by that. It's not about whether something is "that big of a deal." The point of design feedback isn't to point out "big deals." The point is to make things better.

May 14, 2013 11:07 p.m.

tempest says... #14

well that's fine. it doesn't bother most people on the site. i'm sorry that you either have OCD or you're a pessimist. oh and the pictures aren't for premium users. go to edit your deck and there's a space under the description box that says "feature card" or something along that line. then put in the card you want the picture comes up

May 14, 2013 11:16 p.m.

The Doctor says... #15

Tempest knows what he's talkin' about.

As far as I know, the only thing a premium user gets is the ability to change the look or his/her name; and some extra trade stuff such as vouching.

May 15, 2013 1:25 a.m.

euknemarchon says... #16

No no no. I didn't mean only premium users get the pictures. I mean the kind of person who spends the time to get a picture, fill out all the perfect hubs, etc. is the kind of person who is most likely to have paid already or to pay in the future for premium. I don't care about that fluff and I have no plans to go premium. I'm an ad-viewing customer. The layout sucks for ad-viewing customers. Most ad-viewing customers are apathetic and won't post here, but I've chatted with at least one other who agreed it's gross. You all aren't the kind of people who would leave over that--when I brought up a way to make the layout better, you all automatically pivoted to why it's not that annoying (as opposed to, you know, explaining why it's worthwhile to have the gross huge ad in there when there's no picture or hubs). You're all already loyal. That's great. I'm voicing a different opinion.

May 15, 2013 8:40 p.m.

tempest says... #17

Ok then. I guess I kinda see what you're saying. Maybe something an "x" next to the private deck reminder to indicate not to show the reminder anymore and making the title less wide so that it doesn't include the ad in the title. Is that what you mean?

May 15, 2013 10:07 p.m.

euknemarchon says... #18

Yes on the private deck part. On the ad part, the ad needs to be part of the righthand column, which might involve reducing the Playtest, deckcycle, etc. bars to being in the lefthand column so that the ad can be at the top of the page still. (That's probably important for improving CTR on ppc ads or the cpm rates for choosy bidders).

tempest says... #19

here. tell yeaGO!

May 16, 2013 12:27 a.m.

yeaGO says... #20

Well I've considered making the featured card auto generate if you don't select one. Really, so many decks use the space and select hubs. I'm not sure I understand why you don't.

May 16, 2013 7:54 a.m.

yeaGO says... #21

Also, the bar simply won't work being smaller, believe me I considered it.

May 16, 2013 7:55 a.m.

yeaGO says... #22

As for the private notice, people kept posting their private decks to reddit.

May 16, 2013 7:58 a.m.

MisterRoach says... #23

The nifty thing about adblocker is you can allow ads on certain sites. So you can still hate on ads while allowing them here if you wish.
but as for the new layout. I am a fan :D also MOAR hubs.

May 16, 2013 9:54 a.m.

Xindlepete says... #24

@MisterRoach ATTACH ALL THE HUBS! :D

euknemarchon says... #26

Did you look at the screenshot I posted? That's on a normal, run-of-the-mill MBP. The new design kinda moves TO out of the "clearly better designed than the other sites" category to the "ugly too" category.

May 16, 2013 9:38 p.m.

euknemarchon says... #27

Also, adding an X or something to the privacy notice was a great idea--please don't subject the silent bunch of us to gross notices because of some silly folks who don't remember the privacy settings.

May 16, 2013 9:40 p.m.

yeaGO says... #28

I'm sorry, but now what the hell are you talking about?

May 17, 2013 8:18 a.m.

yeaGO says... #29

Oh. I got it.

Don't know. You threatened earlier to leave the site over the design changes. You're free to make good on it as far as I'm concerned.

MTGVault

MTG Deck Builder.com

Two great sites. See ya.

May 17, 2013 8:47 a.m.

Xindlepete says... #30

@euknemarchon: Did you ever consider the "silent bunch" were silent because they really didn't care about a privacy notice? The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say, but if it keeps squeeking eventually it gets thrown out and replaced. Making a stink over a one-sentence pop-up reminder is just pointless.

@yeaGO!: I never considered there were other sites worth checking. You guys run a clean, efficient, and totally user friendly e-vironment. I don't understand why anyone would want to leave, but I don't mind seeing them go. Just means that everyone who's still around will enjoy this wonderful site all the more. Seriously, keep up the good work! :D

May 17, 2013 9:16 a.m.

euknemarchon says... #31

So glad you're open to constructive criticism by somebody who has often praised TO and encouraged others to sign up.

May 17, 2013 7:03 p.m.

yeaGO says... #32

Sorry the design isn't up to your liking. More or less, I build this entire site by myself and I will be the first to admit that I am not the best designer in the world. We get it, you don't like it.

You're also badgering me about a message as though it reflects some kind of infringement upon you. If you are interested in the backstory behind this notification, there it is. The truth seems to be that you can't really please everybody. But when I balance your cranky nagging about a message you are free to ignore with the prospect of someone sitting around wondering why they aren't getting feedback on their deck on a friday afternoon, sorry, the economics don't go your way.

I am welcoming you to your own challenge, go somewhere else. The design is gross. So sorry. Later!

I want to take a moment to talk about cake. Cake is great. It's delicious, it's easy to make, and it looks good.

Let's face it, a lot of people like cake!

But... there's always that one person. That one person who prefers pie. That person can't enjoy the cake. Why? Because it's not pie.

I can't speak for anyone else, but if you don't like cake, go make a pie. Who knows? Maybe your pie will be more to your liking than the cake is.

I really shouldn't post on here when I've been drinking.

May 17, 2013 11:35 p.m.

Lol! I like the new design as well. Good job!

May 17, 2013 11:39 p.m.

euknemarchon says... #35

Sorry that the tone of my comments gave the impression of "cranky nagging." I genuinely wanted to give feedback that would help improve TO. But if you feel overworked, it seems to me you have control over whether you recruit help. You don't have a good reason to take a "screw you" attitude to someone bringing feedback out of concern that some users might be turned off by the design in the future. That's especially striking because I'm somebody who has only sung praises of TO and has actively told people to use it. I enjoyed TO when it was cool--later.

@Joshuawesome: You sir, are a brilliant man. If I could "upvote" people, you would get one from me! :D That was great, and you should consider bringing levity to serious posts more often, sobriety be damned! XD (though don't take that as me enabling/supporting alcoholism).

May 18, 2013 12:54 a.m.

Joshuawesome says... #37

lol thanks Xindlepete! Appreciate the wishful upvote. Now draw my email for your create-a-planeswalker contest thingy! lol

In all seriousness, I think yeaGO! is doing a fine job, and negativity serves no purpose aside from begetting more negativity. The general consensus based on this thread alone is that the change was for the better and I for one, as both a fan of the site and an avid user, support it.

May 18, 2013 1:05 a.m.

Xindlepete says... #38

Heartily agreed, Joshuawesome! And don't be mad at me, be mad at my random number generator! :P Haha, just have some patience, it's bound to pop up at some point.

May 18, 2013 2:26 a.m.

yeaGO says... #39

I for one am honored that tappedout is your drunk-post medium of first resort.

May 18, 2013 2:28 a.m.

Joshuawesome says... #40

lol yeaGO!, I get some of my best deck building ideas when I'm drinking (if my decks didn't give that away...) :P

Xindlepete, no worries man, I'm waiting for my name to pop up as patiently as I can, I just hope once I'm picked the card is humorous and if it mentions my love of "relaxing" (yeah, we'll call it that) even better!
