but when i try to open one of the drop down menu's (my decks, notifications etc) while i'm scrolled down... i get a darkened screen and am forced to click the menu closed and scroll up

Try scrolling around on the darkened screen. The menu pops up in one location on whatever page you're on, and stays there; it doesn't track your movements on the page.

If you just scroll all the way up and down that darkened screen, you should find what you're looking for.

Huh. What browser are you using?

In chrome, the drop down menus (at least for me) appear right in the middle of the screen.
