Premium User Subs
TappedOut forum

Does anyone like the idea of a OPTIONAL Sub fee for the site? like 5 a month or something
With that you would like get like 3 free tokens a months or some shit and also AD FREE site browsing. I just hate the constant ads everywhere when I'm using the site and I would gladly pay money to make them go away.
Does anyone else support something like this or no?

What ads?
>mfw there are still people who don't use adblock

the ads are here to bring revenue to the site. using Adblock just makes the box blank but doesnt fix formating which is ugly for site layout. it also remvoes that revenue from the site.
Ill let them have my revenue instead of the ads.
also my work comp cant have AdBlock and I spend a LOT of time with this site up at work. (fight the man)
also have the Optional Sub option could over other things like i said like tokens or whatnot that could still interest people who still use AdBlock.

Na it looks quite good with adblock. It's intelligent enough to remove the div not just the ad within the div.
The only thing the ad tracks is the number of clicks. It doesn't know if you have adblock or not. So if you're not going to ever click on any of the ads, it's the same as having adblock. At least, that's how I understand it.

feels good to be a programmer

I mean, Adblock does cut a portion of revenue from sites (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong).
We do already have a subscription that has one special feature, but we don't yet have anything like you propose. Maybe yeaGO would be interested in adding something.

Ads also generate revenue from just being seen. the more traffic a site gets with a ad on it brings more money. Im not trying to take that away.
but yes I just think it would be neat to have a Sub system with things in it for the users and there are tons of things that could be picked from.

I don't think it's possible for the company posting the ad detect that it was seen, then send T/O money for how many views the ad got. I'm sure it has to do with number of clicks.

I'm not a huge fan of feature tokens since I don't think they're that much better than just deckcycling, but I'd be down to pay for any kind of extra content, just cause I love the site. Extra deckcycles per day could be cool.

well Im not sure how many click Single Muslim women in my area are going to be bringing. Im scared to find out what is in my cookies that is making that show up all the time.
All I know is I don't want it there.
...and I want goodies from T/O

I highly doubt a subscription would replace the current upgrades.

ApocryphalSaint "using Adblock just makes the box blank but doesnt fix formating which is ugly for site layout".
I don't know what adblocker you have used but that simply isn't the case. Without this topic I wouldn't have even known that there were adds in T/O. Adblock Plus does its job very well.
That said, I would still be down for premium user options and even for the adfree part of it. Though we also already have the possibility to buy tokens so that's what I have done time to time.

Sounds good. Maybe with access to TO "rules" chat (is ajax still a thing?), customizable deck layout (like background or something), message system, profile pictures for forum posts (based on ranking system f.e.: kinda like momir basic... at first you may choose any cmc1 creature as avatar, then cmc2 and so on)

There already is a subscription service - it's called being a supporter. Its $3 a month.
I can confirm that adblock does cut revenue from sites, having spoken to representatives from Team Liquid (who do e-sports like StarCraft).

omnipotato - also featuring makes a HUGE difference when compared to deckcycling. I've spent a lot of time considering this and tested decks both with and without featuring. My featured decks are far and away more successful if you count 'upvotes' but also in terms of comments.

ChiefBell I am aware of the sub service however it offers next to nothing. Apparently it gives you access to the app? However I use the app in its very limited form without that sub fee.
I am talking about a optional paid service offering "nice things" to those who choose it. This is currently NOT a thing.

That actually sounds really good. I'm down for paying for that
