Profile decks match Deckcycles?

Should your decks on your profile simply be the latest decks you cycled? why would you ever want different decks there?

I like the option of which decks I can showcase on my profile. Perhaps a feature that shows which deck was last cycled would be cool.

why are you wanting to showcase decks other than what you deckcycled?

Matsi883 says... #4

Old decks that you want people to see but not as much as other decks that you deckcycle.

May 25, 2014 11:46 a.m.

yeaGO says... #5

but you would have deck-cycled them before huh?

May 25, 2014 11:46 a.m.

I don't like that. Non-upgraded users like myself have only 1 deck cycle so we can't show off multiple decks a day, and I usually only deck cycle one deck at a time, the one that I'm currently trying to make better. But I want people who visit my profile to see my other decks to give feedback.

I agree with Matsi883. I simply have too many decks that I'm proud of and can't/don't need to deckcycle. I would like to show them off somehow.

May 25, 2014 11:48 a.m.

yeaGO says... #8

right but you would have cycled them at some point before yeah... so they'd still be there...

May 25, 2014 11:48 a.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #9

How long would it be before they wore off the profile page?

May 25, 2014 11:50 a.m.

yeaGO says... #10

they wouldn't wear off, or maybe it would just show a max of 10 or something.

when you cycled the deck you cycle everyday, it would just remain at the top.

The_Raven says... #11

I like the idea :D. It would then be a lot easier for me to show the deck I'm playing the most!

May 25, 2014 12:25 p.m.

yeaGO says... #12

i also think it would help people who are new to the site figure out what decks go on their profile.

and really, i don't get why anyone would want to showcase things they never deck-cycled.

May 25, 2014 12:26 p.m.

Maybe make it an option in user settings?

May 25, 2014 12:32 p.m.

yeaGO says... #14

if someone gives me a reason why historic deck cycles doesn't match what they do.... then sure :P

May 25, 2014 12:36 p.m.

I like my profile to display my community EDH resources, but I don't really deckcycle them very often.

May 25, 2014 12:46 p.m.

yeaGO says... #16

true but if people wanted to really feature things couldn't they do in their profile

It gets long after a while. I have like 8 of those resources. I list them as links, but not using deck-large because they eat space.

doesn't take up any more space then it already does on your profile...

in the comment space i can't do it but you could list them 4x4 side by side with some pretty simple html.

i've always hated how the current options as far as decks on the profile work. its pretty awkward and it leaves a lot of new people with nothing on their profile.

I feel like having decks on your profile is another great way to advertise your favorite builds/the ones that say the most about you/your style. I have had a number of comments and upvotes just based on the fact that someone was checking out my page and saw them there.

What about a "Recently cycled" tab in the same box as your profile decks? I really like the idea of keeping a queue of the decks you're trying to show off in a visible place, but I don't feel like replacing your profile decks is the way to do it. It seems like having them accessible gives options for you and for people visiting your profile to see what your favorite decks are and what you're working on currently.

yeaGO says... #21

okay so now I get to ask you the same question I keep asking =)

If they are your favorite decks and you're currently working on them, why didn't you deck-cycle them?

May 25, 2014 1:22 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #22

I have favourite decks that I'm not currently working on that I don't deckcycle because they're finished but they are important to me. I will have easily deckcycled way more than 10 different decks since then - which would be mean by the new system they'd be pushed off my profile. I don't want that. I want some way of showcasing historic decks I've made that I may not be deckcycling anymore.

My rule of thumb is to deckcycle new creations and showcase old ones on my profile. The new system would mean that I could no longer do this because my old creations would be buried under a pile of sh*t.

Generally it's a good thing to not take away functionality.

Well...I have cycled them. Just not recently. For example, one of the decks I like people to see is retired and I'm not currently working on it. But if they're looking for ideas for their Necrotic Ooze combo deck or just a new deck to build in general it's there.

I see what you're saying about how the decks I've cycled previously would still be there, but you look at some people's profiles and they have so many decks listed it becomes arduous to look through them all. There would have to be a cap, and when you do that all of a sudden the "favorites" get rotated out just due to lack of focus.

I guess to answer your question, I'm not always working on my favorite decks and I use the deckcycles (primarily) for WIP builds.

DaggerV says... #24

Not so true now, but at the time, I have decks I have finished and love to show off, which I leave on my profile, then decks i'm working on, which are rarely on profile, gets deckcycled to oblivion.

May 25, 2014 1:41 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #25

I'm the same as DaggerV. Important but old decks on the profile. New decks not on profile get deckcycled.

May 25, 2014 1:45 p.m.

yeaGO says... #26

Okay what about up to 10 decks, populated automatically by the deck-cycle, option to remove. so when you are no longer rotating one or interested in feedback you can axe it from your profile. but the last one you cycled always goes to the top.

Well I have 3 currently active decks, I play modern, I play standard, I have a 2nd standard deck for when I bring people with me to FNM.

I have immediate interest in all these decks and like them all on my profile. If some one goes to my profile, they see a picture of me which I change often and a long lists of decks I currently have interest in or am building, not just the 1 I deckcycled most recently. Which often is just picked at random when it comes time to deckcycle.

I can only deckcycle 1 deck at a time, so it's a good way to show off more than 1 deck at at time. I make a lot of suggestions on other peoples decks which have similar archetypes. I like that they others can go to my profile and see what I have done with that particular archetype and either help me improve it.

May 25, 2014 1:48 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #28

I just don't want my profile decks to be populated automatically. I like being able to choose what I want to go there.

I have decks that I like people seeing, that I don't mind people commenting on but that I never deckcycle and probably won't for a long time.

May 25, 2014 1:54 p.m.

APPLE01DOJ says... #29

"I like being able to choose what I want to go there"

was what I meant to say too.

May 25, 2014 1:58 p.m.

I'm kind of in the same boat as most of the others here, but here's something.. I would like to choose the order in which the decks show up on my profile.. For example; I'll have my current modern & standard decks at/near the top, and then have some of my other projects & older decks near the bottom..

But I'm all for a "recently cycled" tab too.. :)

May 25, 2014 2:06 p.m.

ChiefBell says... #31

Metroid_Hybrid - you can do that. Click on the picture of the person in the top right. Click settings. Near the bottom it has a list of profile decks. Change the order that the decks appear in by typing the names in the order you want.

May 25, 2014 2:19 p.m.

Not quite.. Maybe it's because I'm on my phone, but no matter what order I put the decks in the setting box, it still puts them in the same order on my profile..

May 25, 2014 2:31 p.m.

xzzane says... #33

I have to admit I rather like the settings as they are. Maybe a recently deck cycled tab would be nice, as someone suggested earlier, but I personally don't want it to change.
