Competitive meter is useless

i notice that some people on this site take the competitive meter too seriously. like they think its the absolute authority on how good their deck is. well this little deck i made proves otherwise. note that although the deck is entirely unplayable due to having no lands, the competitive meter still shows 100% competitive.

Why is this such a point of contention?
Seriously, who cares?

I've caused a 23% swing on the meter by changing a pack foil for a judge promo.
I don't think anyone takes it seriously...

How does the system decide what's casual and what's competitive? I get that cards that show up in Top 8 lists or wherever metric it uses are probably competitive, but that's a small and repetitive selection. If a deck falls out of the large-scale meta, is it immediately casual?

This meter is messed up, why is it active on the site? Keeping a nonfunctional feature like this looks very poorly upon the site. Until it's fixed and actually functioning correctly simply hide it in deck pages?

Well to be fair the current discussion is more around if it's gameable. When I removed it plenty of people found it useful, so it's optional currently.

Did they update the algorithm or something? Three decks of mine showing more than 85% competitive last week, now they are 50% and lower. Does anybody know?

My highest: Battalion of Centaurs (Part I: The first clash). It rated 100% competitive and now is 50%.

How come All That Glitters makes a deck more competitive than Ethereal Armor does, according to the metter? Ethereal Armor cost 1 mana less and gives First Strike. I'm sure that boosts the deck further than All that Glitters. Don't you think?

A deck of 60 forest also shows up as 93% competitive.
