People still post questions wrong both in there and that should bein there in the wrong spots. Any consideration to changing the name from mtg q&a to rules Q&A? The whole site is about mtg (BE aside)
I think that's a fairly good idea Epoch. That could possibly solve a lot of misposting issues

I would hate the centralized posting system, it'd be a waste of time and an irritant to the users who know where to post.
And why hasn't the name of MTG Q&A been changed yet? We've been asking it for at least a year now (I say a year as that is the longest I remember it being asked for)! yeaGO, surely it isn't that hard to change the name.

The central system would only be for new threads. I'm envisioning something like this:
What kind of post are you writing?
Select forum: (Appears only if user checked "I have another kind of post.")

hmm. I've been on sites where you need to do like a tutorial thing before using a forum option, like a quick guide for where-to post, is something like that reasonable or too difficult to put together to be worth doing?
also possibly adding some kind of punishment for consistent posting in wrong forums? like just a suspension on "can't post in forums for a few days"
I like the idea of a centralized posting, maybe replacing the Q&A option in the header with a post option just to make it easier to get to. the way epoch has it set up there doesn't actually slow it down for anyone who knows what they're doing. though it takes away the description of each forum accompanied with the forums when posting (though that seems to be generally ignored).

I've also asked yeago if I could make a tutorial of the entire site. There is a complete lack of one and when I did another account just to teach my daughter on how to navigate through this site, I realized that it doesn't actually teach you ANYTHING. My daughter spent 3 1/2 hours trying to figure out how to do a simple post.

I agree that a tutorial fir the site would be very helpful.

We have things like the comment tutorial, but we still get tons of questions about how to do basic things.

Because the comment tutorial only covers basic functions as to what to put IN a comment. Not how to comment, or what each section of the site does or what each button does. A thorough step by step tutorial is what this site needs. I might add that the comment tutorial doesn't really have any relevance with the new buttons.

There have been multiple proposals.
The most recent idea is a centralized posting system that would help people automatically sort their new thread into the proper forum.
