Question about new sets.

TappedOut forum

This question may not have a hard and fast answer, but here goes.

About how long before a set is physically released does it get added here on TappedOut for images to be added?

(If there is a planned time of course.)

My initial assumption is that it will go 'live' when the official Wizards Card Image Gallery goes up so as to prevent mistaken additions or erroneous images from pre-gallery mock-ups. Would this be the case?

Well, the cards are all uploaded by users. Usually the editor is open to have them entered around a week before the set is released (about when they release the official gallery), and it just takes as long as the users take to upload them.

As upgraded users, you and I can both help come that time. I usually limit myself to editing rather than uploading, because I don't have any great photo editing software to crop the borders out (otherwise you end up with these nasty bordered cards: Naya Charm ).

It usually starts slightly before the physical release. Around the time of M14 a new feature was implemented where upgraded users could submit card info to start loading up the database. Images were taken from the Card Image Gallery, but I don't know whether that's part of what you can do when submitting the info. Hopefully this time there won't be so many mistakes and typos that get through.

Thanks for the input, guys, it is very much appreciated.

I'm familiar with the uploading process as I've been doing that for a some time now, but, the primary reason I asked was I was interested if it could be possible, depending on what rubric is used for set additions, to start adding cards at least by name.

The main draws against that are, again, the 'Real or Fake' cards and such, but, when I'm trying to plan a deck with newer cards (which is one of my primary past times at the moment) its also a rousing game of 'Find a Standard card with the same CMC, type, and color distribution' so that I may include it instead. haha

(Apologies on the ramble-y nature of this post, I'm under the weather and its difficult to focus. :P )
