I got a snarky comment from Behgz on my deck, and opened up his profile before removing it because I don't need that kinda shit on my profile. I was then greeted with the following message.
"This user is no longer interested in interacting with you. Any efforts you make to communicate with this user through this site can lead to a permanent ban. If enough users block you, you will be removed from this site"
Are we for real on this? I'm receiving a warning because some kid commented on my deck and decided to block me?
The Doctor says... #3
I just think that it's some pretty extreme bullshit that somebody is an ass to ME and I'm getting a warning for it.
February 26, 2014 6:08 p.m.
Yeah someone blocked me too, no idea why, but im not too worried about it. every once in a while ill accidentally try to click on the dudes page bc i forget, and i get that warning.

The system isn't in place to yell at you. It's in place to keep trolls off the site. People will block the accounts of crappy people with nothing relevant to say. If enough people do that to a single person, then that person will be banned for being a jerkbag.
The "don't interact with this person anymore" bit is there to keep users from harassing each other. If you block someone and they keep trying to bug you, then there's a system in place to deal with it.

Proud to say I haven't been blocked yet, and I always come off as an ass, most of the time.
Yeah, always most of the time.

The Doctor - one guy blocked me for commenting on his deck. He was a total jerk after several people added card suggestions (how DARE we not consider his deck to be already perfect!). This is after he asked for help with the deck in the forums. When I pointed out that HE was the one soliciting suggestions and that he shouldn't be a dick to people who only want to help him, he blocked me.
Not a big deal though. You can just log out if you want to look at the profile of someone who banned you. I did, and noticed that the guy who blocked me deleted the decks we commented on - probably trying to coverup his own asshat comments.
Some people on the internet don't know how to be social IRL, and it shows!

There are VERY few users that I have had issues with. As someone who believes in neutrality I am always making attempts to make peace.
That being said, there are a few individuals who are lost souls. I can't imagine that I have ever been blocked, I have never blocked anyone, but there are surely people that I'd LIKE to block sometimes but it's usually only after they have done something to piss off the general community.
The best way to stop the issues is just to stop talking about them.
February 26, 2014 7:06 p.m.
How do you find out if you have been blocked? Oh the drama. lol
February 26, 2014 7:31 p.m.
DrFunk27 if someone blocked you and you try to look at theyre deck/profile, you get a message saying they blocked you
February 26, 2014 7:33 p.m.
this post made me want to remember who it was that blocked me. it was a relatively active user, i just cant remember who..

Wow. Even I have never been blocked. And I have said some fucked up shit. I once made a bunch of Transgender comments about Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver , but after an interesting conversation, I decided that I was wrong for not minding others and apologized. Never got a warning.
The other time, and I am sure many of you guys were in on this thread, was the one where I passed a promotion board for the Army. I made a deal with myself that if I passed well enough, I would treat myself to Tarmogoyf
s. Lol. Some dude got all pissy about me being a baby killer or as he put it, "brown people killer" and it started an internet shitstorm from what appeared to be every military (past, present and different countries) user on the site. It even got a response from yeaGO! which was just a simple "Lol." Once again, never got even a warning.
And here I was thinking that there was no such feature... I dodged a few bullets, I suppose.

The only way to know is to go to the profile of a person who blocks you. You don't get a notification.
I can imagine the kinds of people who use this feature...probably shut up in their mom's basement, blocking out the world. lol
It's supposed to be about blocking someone who threatens or harrasses another TO user, but is more often used as a "I'm pissed that you critiqued my wonderful deck" response.
February 26, 2014 7:38 p.m.
SharuumNyan says... #16
Funny thing is, the guy who blocked me goes out of his way to respond to my comments in other parts of TO, and then pretends he doesn't remember me. And he ends almost every post with "I'm done with you", keeps replying to me, and then calls me a troll.
February 26, 2014 7:42 p.m.
Lol ''The art of a master troll.'' that cracked me up man.

gnarlicide I remember that thread pretty well and that "brown people" comment really aggravated me. As a veteran I know that we don't get enough support back home.
February 26, 2014 7:50 p.m.
I would appreciate it if we steered away from controversial things like that. I have my own personal opinions about the military, but out of respect I avoid bringing them up. I find it somewhat offensive when you say certain things about the military, and I'm sure you would feel the same if I did. I don't want to feel like I have to defend my point of view, so I'd rather avoid it entirely. Does that sound slightly reasonable?
February 26, 2014 8:43 p.m.
What I'm saying is that I respectfully disagree but would prefer to avoid the topic entirely. As much as my opinion would annoy you, yours does me.
February 26, 2014 8:45 p.m.
Ohthenoises says... #23
Having an opinion is perfectly fine ChiefBell. The issue we had was gnarlicide said that he was going to use his first month's raise to buy a goyf and he made the joke "Man, I should be a recruiter! Join the Army and get goyfs!"
It was a joke, meant to be a joke. The user we had an issue with said, IIRC, "all you do is kill brown people" which is incredibly racist and false to boot.
February 26, 2014 8:47 p.m.
Yeh I get that. He was being wildly inaccurate and stupid, and obviously these are sensitive issues. He handled himself poorly.
If I remember correctly I said something like, 'I don't necessarily agree with the pro military sentiment but congratulations and I hope you stay safe'. Which I felt was a tasteful way of presenting the opposing view but not being an ass.
It does kind of put me in an awkward, uncomfortable position when there's many pages of people saying things similar to 'I really support the work the military does in X country' or 'thank god we got involved in Y area' when I disagree. Rather than typing a long essay I just sort of feel uncomfortable and shut up, which doesn't feel fair. That's why I'd prefer it if people sort of..... avoided it.
However, that thread was fine on the whole. There were just a few over-eager individuals.
February 26, 2014 8:54 p.m.
It's just a tiny thing, it doesn't matter too much. Just my opinion really.
I just want this place to stay happy and avoid serious issues.

I'm surprised we haven't had an uptight environmentalist on here yet demanding to know why Wizards doesn't use recycled cardboard. We're all a bunch of baby tree murderers!

When you say "baby tree", I automatically think of Bonslys. Lol
Ignoring the fact that Bonslys are actually rocks, of course.

I'm of the mindset that I am proud to have done my duty, no more, no less. If you have a different opinion that's cool too and you should KEEP HAVING your opinion free of my, or any other's, influence.
I may not agree with my nation's policies but, truth be told, there's really nothing I can do about it. I can vote against a specific presidential candidate or congressman(woman) in an attempt to get someone who will vote how I'd like on specific matters but that's about it.
The military trains you to trust others that are with you, this can spark feelings of brotherhood so we tend to have a hive mentality in that if you harm or attack one of us we are all under threat.
TL;DR Have an opinion but don't force it on others, I'm not bashing you so don't bash me. Military tends to be a family though so we can be defensive.
None of this was directed at you ChiefBell, all of the previous is general terms. You are probably the most respectful person who is, dare I say, anti-military I have ever met and I commend you on that.
Sorry for hijacking your thread The Doctor.

Considering that we're playing a game that simulates powerful magic that destroys entire planes of existence, the military seems kind of tame in comparison.
And with that statement I probably offended everyone!
February 26, 2014 9:13 p.m.
This is going to a cold place, far away from the warmth of magic.
February 26, 2014 9:33 p.m.
gnarlicide says... #32
ChiefBell, it's cool man. We both have our sides.
Now what we do have in common is a game that can obviously bring good people together in a community. Which allows people like you and me an everyone else here, for the most part discuss things in a non inflammatory manner.
For that man, you seem like a good dude. And I will respect your feelings here and try to avoid pro military sentiments. Besides, this ain't the place, I was just giving examples of crazy comments that never got me banned or blocked, when I probably easily could have.

Well on the topic of blocking, I once strongly considered blocking someone upon first joining this site. I posted an Azorius deck, and being completely and utterly new to the game I didn't feel like buying expensive things like Sphinx's Revelation . Somebody (I forget the user name) promply blasted me for not putting up a "competitive deck" saying that my deck was terrible ect...
But it really does such that he blocked you. Some people I shall never fathom. I am curious if he will respond to this thread though.

"You're such an idiot! Don't you know that every casual deck should be running 4x Black Lotus ! Anything else is suboptimal!"
Yeah, you have to wonder about those folks. I usually assume that if someone doesn't have expensive cards in their deck they probably don't want $800 in improvement suggestions.

Meh, the way I see it, if they don't use the budget hub, or mark the deck casual, but they do mark it for a format like standard, modern, legacy or vintage, I will suggest spendy cards, unless they say in the description its a budget build.
Then, when they say something along the lines of "This is budget." or whatever it is people say, they will get a handy lesson in hubs and stuff from me.
Which in turn, makes me come off as an ass, but hey, what can you do?
February 27, 2014 1:51 a.m.
Convo sidetracked much? :P
Umm, anyway. Look the block feature is there for a reason, to stop interactions you don't want. If a user blocks you but continues to harass you, please let me know and I will deal with it.

Interesting Behgz wrote some articles. I did not read them yet though. I was expecting it to be an alternate account or something.

vampirelazarus None of my decks have a strict "budget" but I try to keep myself on a leash. For example, (and this really happened recently courtesy of Three-Left-Feet) if you suggested Vindicate for my iPod 666GB Karador, Ghost Chieftain deck I would tell you this: "Vindicate is a tad out of budget for me." Now, Three-Left-Feet apologized but I had to reply with this: "Don't apologize, it's a perfectly valid suggestion seeing as I have a Bayou and a Scrubland in here. I just got those for a good deal and I'm a miserly son of a B lol."
My decks aren't budget but I try to keep myself from spending too much on cardboard. (Unless of course I can get a "damaged" Bayou and Scrubland for $30 each...)

Hello Behgz. What prompted the block? Just curious.
February 27, 2014 3:29 p.m.
@the doctor
The last time someone made a thread to 'complain' about something I had said on TO.net, a group of users happened to stumble into that thread, and proceeded to talk trash about me, despite never having interacted with me prior. You were one of those people, The Doctor, and I never forgot. I blocked you that day, then recently I saw your Mono-Black devotion netdeck which you had added some Born of the Gods cards to, and you had wrapped it in some Doctor Who themed reference package, I'm sure you thought it was clever, but to me it was just another MBD list being posted on TO.
I also pointed out that your sb had 16 cards in it.
in case anyone wanted the real story..
February 27, 2014 3:33 p.m.
@Epochalyptik and yeaGO! and any other user's who have the ability to monitor and/or delete threads in the forum they find unacceptable.
How is this thread not deemed unacceptable. He doesn't even have a screen capture of the post I supposedly made, he could have made this whole thing up. Are we allowed to public flame specific users in forum threads, personally I think it's an offense worthy of a warning. Considering this is the second time it's happened to me.
February 27, 2014 3:56 p.m.
...well you did block him then comment on his decks. if you block people you should just leave them alone. anyway, at least you've given him the whole story as I think he was just expressing his confusion/frustration over why you blocked him originally but then are leaving drive-by comments.
February 27, 2014 4:05 p.m.
That's fair, I'd agree with that. Let's just be a little less biased when we see threads about Behgz pop up and maybe consider taking them down immediately instead of 48hrs later after everyone has gotten their jabs in at me.
February 27, 2014 4:09 p.m.
well i think its valuable you filled in your side of the story... and trust me if anyone becomes truly abusive of you I will bark them out of the yard as I tend to do. :P
also i think its a helpful thread so people understand what the block feature is and how to use it properly.
February 27, 2014 4:12 p.m.
eh, i have a soft spot for controversial users. :P
i still think my favorite person ever is masterpeez
