So uh ... Zendikar Expeditions ... Where Should I Put Them?

The full info on them can be found on the bottom of this link.

Basically, they are a method WotC used to reprint new lands from potentially anywhere. It seems that both the old ZEN fetches and shocks are being reprinted, but there is a total of 25 lands.

Now here's the problem: These will be opened in BFZ packs, and are legal for play in limited formats. However, I don't know how the pack structure is going to be lined up for them, and their rarity is basically rarer-than-mythic rare (but more common than foil mythic rare). Are these lands going to replace the land slot? Or are they going to replace the foil slot? Or should we just have a completely different set called "Zendikar Expiditions" for them?

Please do note that the cards use a different set symbol and set code than BFZ. The code for them is EXP, strengthening the decision to put them into a different set, but making the limited draft tester here on T/O not entirely correct. But would such a rare occurrence even matter for our playtester?

I personally think that a different set is necessary, because that's technically what they're numbered as.

If all else fails, there's always the promo set, although I suppose that doesn't help the draft sim problem

I would say just stick them in a separate set. In the draft sim, they would rarely be picked since they're basically just for value drafting, which has no impact online.

What did you do with Conspiracy cards out of that set? I feel like these should get the same treatment.

If you look at the bottom of the cards, they are listed seperately in the set expansion EXP, for expedition I believe.

Posting image for source and why not.

I believe it was in the spoilers thread that someone posted it, but the question was asked on Maro's blog about what slot the expedition lands would take up in the pack and the answer was that he was 80% sure it would take the slot of a common but he wasn't positive. If that helps you at all.

That being said, they do have a different expansion symbol and each one is part of a 45 card sub-set (20 will be in the small set of this block). So it comes down to how accurate you want the draft simulator to be.

I didn't handle the Conspiracy set ThatJunkMage, so I don't actually know what you are referring to. I presume they all went into the Conspiracy set itself. Actually, I don't think they got added at all since yeago's automatic importing did the work I do believe.

Yes, I know that JWiley129, I did detail those in the OP, and linked to the page that presented the images.

It seems that general consensus is to put them into a separate set, and with 45 cards in EXP (experience points ... GET!), I do believe that is the better idea. However I will wait for yeaGO's decision since he handles the draft simulator.

The release date for EXP, if accepted into a set, should be October 2nd, the same as BFZ.

You'll likely not pick the lands up draft anyways online. Super rare occurrence. Totally ok with it not being there.

Oh, and another thing that might cause more problems. 25 of the 45 will be released in BFZ, while the other 20 will be released in "Sweat". This might cause problems if yeago chooses to do some sort of set-to-set integration. Which I don't think he will as that is a bit too much effort for something small like this.

that's so weird. its kinda like they're just "inserts" of another set. I think that would be pretty trivial to account for at the pack generation so let's just create another TLA.
