Subscription Issues

TappedOut forum

I've recently noticed the auto subscribe feature of TappedOut is actually quite an annoyance.. Looking at my current subscriptions, I have about 14 pages worth and there's really no quick and easy way to clear them all out. Is there any way this feature could be changed to auto-unsubscribe after going a certain length of time without contributing to a certain subscription? Also, is it necessary to group subscriptions to your own decks with subscriptions to other peoples decks/threads? It seems to me everyone on here probably wants to know when someone comments on their decks, couldn't this just be an entirely separate thing that doesn't take up space in your subscription list?

If a complete reformation of the subscription feature like this is out of the question, would it be too difficult to add an unsubscribe option next to each notification in your notification list? This would at least be much easier than sifting through pages and pages of subscriptions just to weed out the few active subscriptions flooding my notifications.

In the settings tab, you can uncheck auto-subscribe.

I'm aware of that. But that doesn't change the numerous things I'm already subscribed to, nor the fact that overall the subscription feature isn't all that great.

You can delete subscriptions by going to the "view subscriptions" option on the bottom of the notifications tab.

What can we improve about the subscription feature?

Anything that would show up in your notifications has an "Unsubscribe" link somewhere on its page. Click through, scroll down, and you'll find it.

Wow, I have 132. But I'm sure at least 80% of those are Q&A topics where the conversation ended within a day.

Subscribe by default is the best option. Usually, you want to know if anyone responds to what you're saying.

Epochalyptik, I made a few suggestions in my original post, the simplest of which I think would be to add an unsubscribe option in the notification window. As far as looking for the unsubcribe option on the individual threads, I looked briefly and couldn't find anything, but I'll look again. A certain time cap for subscriptions would be a nice feature as well. I see I'm not the only one with an ungodly amount of subscriptions that I would have to sift through to do them from one place.

The unsubscribe button on threads and decks is located below the comment field.

I'm opposed to a time-based expiration system because even old comments can be constructive. Maybe as an optional feature it would be alright.

One thing I would like is a modification to the way subscriptions to other users' walls and binders work. Often, I remain subscribed to others' binders and walls if I am unsure whether they'll respond to me on my own wall or on theirs (where my comment is). Unfortunately, I get tons of notifications from other users posting on that same wall. I'd like an option that would give me notifications from a user's wall or binder if and only if that user posts on his or her wall or binder. That way I don't have to sift through comments I don't care about.

For example, I post on yeaGO!'s wall. Then, five other users post there; BUT, I only get a notification if and when yeaGO! himself posts on his wall.

I swear, I'm blind sometimes... Overlooked that button even on a second more thorough search. Thanks.
What if, instead of having to wait for your subscription page to reload after every individual unsubscription, replacing the unsubscribe buttons with check boxed and a single unsubsrcibe button, similar to how email boxes work? That would certainly make the process of cleaning out my subscriptions a bit less daunting...
