TappedOut App?
TappedOut forum

Hello all,
I'm inviting you to give me some feedback on an App I would like to start developing.
What features would you be looking for in such an app?
Here's some things to stir the conversation:
-Want-list for when you go to the store with a list of cards you're looking for. The want-list will be populated from your want-list on TappedOut.
-Trade-binder for when you want to let people browse through your stuff
-Your decks
-Card search
-Notification feed/wall/comments on your stuff
-Life counter, just because.
That's what I got for now. Does anyone have any further ideas or could someone elaborate or what specifically they'd like more about either of the above?

I have a friend who knows how, I just need the practice with it... Plus, after my AP CS exam next week or so, we're screwing around with Alice and an app builder in class... and playing ultimate.

Must haves:
Card search (with images).
Deck and User search.
Prices (linked up to whichever sales site we tango with).
Access your decks/profile.
Able to comment and vote on decks.
Would love to have:
Being able to use the deck builder
Be able to edit decks already on your profile.
Easy and streamlined access to forums and Q&A.
Be able to smaple hand a deck.
A life/poision counter tracker for when playing casual games.

ability to search for prices for cards, but with prices that are continuously up to date

I believe that all of these features can be accomplished through a mobile optimized interface of this site. It doesn't have to be a java app built specifically for Android, or an Objective C app built specifically for iOS. You can just start with good ole HTML/CSS/JS on this existing web app.
I think the notifications can't be done... but you already send emails out, and people are already checking email on their phone.

The jQuery Mobile framework can give you a lot of functionality out of the can, and it does a great job at supporting the greatest number of devices and browsers.

Only feature that immediately comes to mind that hasn't been mentioned so far is access to the lists that we have created.
If you are interested other apps that are designed to support mtg, contain card search, and dice, and life counters.

I would like:
- Tappedout for mobile (no more deleting stuff when you meant to deckcycle)
- Coin Flip (Who goes first?)
- Life/poison counter for up to 8 people
- Card search and price search offline

I'd love to see some type of PC downloadable program that is basicly the same thing as the deck builder, the deck breakdown charts/graphs, playtester, etc, so people with limited internet access such as myself can still experiment with deck ideas. and perhaps have a simple text format option so the decklist can be copied over onto the live server at a later date. I've tried the Magic Workstation, i liked it, and hated it for differing reasons. but anyways, thats my two cents

Bump!
I'm an iPhone user and would love to see a mobile app for TappedOut (browser-based or native app). I just checked the selection of iPhone apps this morning and was very disappointed with what was up there.
If anyone can do it right, I have no doubt it's TappedOut.

It's Be very cool to have an app like that it. It would also Be cool if it let us playtest our Deck.

Playtesting decks on my mobile phone sounds like heaven. And by the way, I'm perfectly fine with a web app if a native app for iPhone (or any specific platform) is not feasible.
July 10, 2011 5:31 a.m.
You can already playtest on the iPhone. I recommend the iPhone 4. The 3GS's screen isn't as good. Either way, it is still a squeeze. It works much better on an iPad or desktop browser.

Have you looked much at Deck Forge ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lagdroid.mtg.deckforge&feature=search_result) ? If you did the things deck forge did, and you linked it to this site and my existing decks, I would pay 5-10 bucks for it.

Need to be able to playtest on mobile phone (android)!
August 7, 2011 1:08 a.m.
IMO the app should have the deckcycling as a main feature with usernamelogin for looking at personal stuff. (decks/etc.)
Deck creation? All the graphs that make this site awesome?
Leafs_suck said "Prices (linked up to whichever sales site we tango with)."Leafs_suck probably hasn't ever coded. That would be annoyingly difficult. Sticking with one moderate site is usually ok for this kind of feature.
Longterm maybe even searching for cards but that might require some BLEH amount of memory.
Hope this helps. LMK if you need any help with some of the Android stuff, I'd be happy to dive in and help.
August 9, 2011 3:01 p.m.
playtesting would be cool. i agree with delete me on the optimization of the site for mobile veiwing rather than an app, but i would buy the app too :)
August 9, 2011 3:21 p.m.
I would love an app it would be sweet or even a mobile friendly one that works, I use Dolphin Browser and TO doesn't always work, the main page itself works just fine on Safari on iPad, but I would say if you made the Apple app to make it universal. perhaps even having a life/poison counter something very similar to MTG Tracker or even have a lot of what MTG Tutor has. along with a Facebook like feel for the UI and notifications, perhaps a streamlined version of the site and I actually WOULD pay for it (never buy apps :p) lol

also i agree with Xander574 on the updated price search i dont know if you have a contract with coolstuff but there are the worst place to price cards period i would never ever ever ever buy anything from them and the price search thing says one thing and then when you click it says something way different and futhermore 90% of every card shop etc not online bases there prices from starcity and everyone i know and prolly mostly every1 buy cards fgrom either their local shop that price bases from starcity or buys from starcity or ebay i dont know anyone the shops from coolstuf because first off their site sucks there prices are not right whether too high or too low and 90% of the time they dont even have the cards in stock u click on my necromancy edh deck and coolstuff has like 4 of the cards in stock out of a hundred! i would suggest using starcity for the entire site price search most indefentily and im only can speak of card shops in my area but i live in pheonix arizona and every card shop i know of (17) here in pheonix only base off starcity

February 7, 2012 4:32 p.m.
yeaGO! there is an app called Decked, you can see it and improve the app. I love Decked because since I have WiFi, it'll show me the price for the cards in the pic (they get prices from TCGPlayer
February 7, 2012 4:33 p.m.
I have hired someone to review the site for better mobile compatibility. That should help. A mobile version is somewhat in the works too.
@Gambit -- I've actually started gathering prices from TCG Player, so you will have the option to start seeing them here too.
February 7, 2012 4:50 p.m.
How about an application using HTML5, css3, etc so it can be run on any platform including tablets and ipods?

ther cant be an app cuh wizards is shutting them all down as yeago said pages ago iand i also reasearch this and he is fully correct wizards made magic toolbox for iphone/android and is shutting down and suing any1 else who makes apps for magic
February 21, 2012 2:06 p.m.
Then forget the app and just make a mobile-friendly version of this site like some of ALSO said pages ago. Also, learn to type.
February 21, 2012 4:07 p.m.
Maybe Wizards will buy it if its successful otherways create a desktop app for windows. It would be awesome!
February 23, 2012 3:06 a.m.
Sorry to revive a dead thread, but has this gotten anywhere?

The answer is no. I haven't seen anything come up on android from yeaGO!, and I haven't gotten around to doing anything even though I have wanted to for some time. The reason being is that there are already apps to do most of what we want to do (price search, life totals, etc). The only thing that would be truly unique about the T/O app is that we would be able to actually edit decklists... and I doubt the draft sim would even work well on Android, though I think the platform handles python rather well. It would be the gestures that would be the awful part of taking the draft sim to Android.
/rant.
October 23, 2013 2:32 p.m.
To summarize, YeaGo can't create an TappedOut app because Wizards will sue him if he does for making a MTG app.
October 23, 2013 4:22 p.m.
iMTG for iPhone pretty much does all this stuff apart from the "syncing with TappedOut" part.. I don't know if it exists for Android.
