TappedOut App?
TappedOut forum

Hello all,
I'm inviting you to give me some feedback on an App I would like to start developing.
What features would you be looking for in such an app?
Here's some things to stir the conversation:
-Want-list for when you go to the store with a list of cards you're looking for. The want-list will be populated from your want-list on TappedOut.
-Trade-binder for when you want to let people browse through your stuff
-Your decks
-Card search
-Notification feed/wall/comments on your stuff
-Life counter, just because.
That's what I got for now. Does anyone have any further ideas or could someone elaborate or what specifically they'd like more about either of the above?
A token function would be nifty, where we could select type, power/toughness, quantity (and number tapped/ summoning sickness)

I would suggest checking out "MtG Tracker & Life Counter" by Platty Soft (Google Play Store/Android). If you could incorporate those functions coupled with what is on this site (deck building, playtesting & social networking)... that'd be just insane. An untouchable, one-stop toolbox for MtG!
I sure as hell look forward to that!
I also agree with sparta88, that a PC software that could run offline would be great. I'm sure many others don't have constant internet access and it would be a great tool.

All I really want is a nice, clean mobile version of this site which I can access from my smartphone without having to zoom in and squint on my decklists.

Ruby on Rails was made for application development. It's pretty simple to get your API setup.

I feel optimizing for portable devices would be the way to go; this would count for many things.....
I have no issues using the site on my tablet or phone, a dedicated keyboard would be nice, lucky for my I have "special" modifications to my devices that make writing lovely things very... easy for touch screen compared to vanilla device on-screen keys.

@DimirQueen-- Android apps are java based, and thus are easier to just use the eclipse Android jdk.
@MrKnify-- While I agree with you, I think an app would be easier to do anid better in the long run, since we could continually add features like card lookup and life counter, etc. I think we would have more functionality in an app than just a mobile port.

NoSkillManiac, yeah, I just saw all the comments about not wanting to make a full stand alone app, and just a mobile version of the site instead (copyright issues?) RoR is extremely fluid and flexible for cross platform mobile development. It's what it was made for. I worked for a mobile printing startup in Berkeley and that's what we used. It was actually an extremely easy setup; the Rails framework is very well put together. But that's not what's being looked for here, obviously. :P

@NoSkillManiac I'm not a java programmer, I used to program in Basic, Pascal, A little C, have been working on learning Ruby, and Python. I've played with HTML back in the 90's. The best skill I have is finding loop-holes, debugging content, and breaking programs.
If your out of the game for too long it becomes a very interesting task trying to play catchup. Unfortunately with my course and being 5000km away from my stuff I am not doing much in that aspect at the moment. (yes I know about the internet lols.)
If you can implement an app for tappedout (you have an apk # in your settings....) I'm sure yeaGO! would take a look at it. Its not to hard to figure out the call$ or find out what scripts would be necessary to catch from memory. I'm runing some tweaked old school gear (phone and tablet wise.....) and would be willing to test it for you.
Cheers!

Whoa, how'd I miss this thread?
Was working on a WinPhone version (very early stages), but my windows phone died around the time they dropped future cross-platform support for Windows 7 phone. Had planned on making it cross-platform.
Now I have an Android, which is much better, and I want to make an Android app. (Not doing it cross-platform, for now to simplify the development.)
If you guys keep me motivated I'll have no choice but to work evening shifts on this thing.
Also, since the app would be merely a companion to the TappedOut website, which itself hasn't gotten sued (AFAIK), why would an app be suspect? It's just an app interface to the TappedOut system, amirite? Wizards can suck a lemon /offtherecord
