T/O crashing my laptop

TappedOut forum

this just started happening within the last month or so.

i'm browsing my or other people's decks in Safari on my Macbook and suddenly for no apparent reason, my computer just crashes and i get a BSOD type screen where it says the computer had to restart because of a problem and it proceeds to do so.

this only happens on T/O and has only started recently. i used to be able to browse fine without it happening. it seems to occur more frequently the more often i mouse-over card links. what's going on?

Well it's definitely your hardware and not Tappedout.

Your first problem:

You're using a Mac.

Your second problem:

Sounds like Wear / Tear on your RAM and/or GPU. Having your system crash due to graphical overload (which tappeodut shouldn't be considered graphical overload) is probably a good sign you're about ready for a new one. Blue Screens typically aren't caused by software issues.

I'd say you could probably easily fix the problem if it weren't for the following issues:

  • It's a laptop

  • It's a mac

That's my unprofessional synopsis.

i have 16 gigs of RAM so thats not it. i play several games that take way more graphical power without problems. "it's a Mac" comments are not helpful so please move along unless you're going to actually help.

That's pretty strange. Yeah I use a MacBook air and I never have crashed although I use chrome.

I go on this site pretty much every day on my laptop and on my phone, and I've never had this happen. It's not a site issue, it's most likely a problem on your end

It could just be Safari. That browser made my iPhone crash (on a multitude of sites) so many times in the first week I had the phone that I downloaded Chrome and keep Safari locked up in the background.

I have had other issues with Safari in the past so that could very well be it. I just find it odd that I've been going on here in Safari for ages and it just now started happening, and it only happens here.

I might just try installing Chrome exclusively for T/O and other Magic sites. I like Safari for everything else cause it keeps bookmarks and history with my iPhone all nice and together.

But... Chrome, though.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I do believe Chrome can import bookmarks.

There was a reason I didn't just use Chrome on iPhone and OSX when I first got the MacBook. I can't remember now what it was, probably cause they want to use Safari default for links and whatnot. That was a couple years ago so maybe I'll try switching over again. I don't think you can tell your iPhone to use Chrome default for internet links but I could be wrong.
