T/O PSA: The General forum is not a dumping ground.
TappedOut forum

Just a quick PSA: please read the forum descriptions before you post.
If a thread belongs in a certain forum, post it in that forum. Please don't throw it in General. General is a last-resort forum that is used for threads that don't go anywhere else.

I think we should have a function where you type the text to a forum and have a checkbox page for which forum you put it in (Maybe questions like "Is this about the rules of Magic?").

Was my forum post the straw that broke the camel's back? (Shameless plug)

@Caraculiambro: No. That thread actually belongs in General.
I've been moving a ton of Deck Help posts out of various forums, especially General, and into DH. I've also been moving a ton of format-specific posts out of General and into the appropriate forums. It seems like people have just stopped reading the forum descriptions, which specify exactly where each kind of thread is supposed to go.

@Epochalyptik: I can safely say that 15% of the people that use the site realized that the forum had descriptions, and that 4% of these 15% read it.

Epochalyptik - have you considered reordering the list of forums? Say, if DeckHelp gets the most legitimate threads then move that forum to the top of the page and then second maybe general, et cetera.
Just a thought. could help.
My reason being that maybe those who seek Deck Help don't care to scroll down a second to see the appropriate forum They see the first few and decide General is the most suitable place for their thread. I feel this may relieve a lot of work for you.

Thats a good idea. I have noticed on other forums that the general sections are usually near the bottom of the list.

I tried that; I guess I just need to move General back down. I feel like General should be the topmost. Deck Help used to be below the format forums, and I moved it to second place because so many people just ignored it.

When looking at the forum page the individual forum descriptions are not extremely obvious. They seem to be a grayish tan that blends in to writing around it. Maybe making them bright red might catch peoples attention and get them to stop and read them. Just a thought. I'm OCD so everything has it's place and it drives me nuts to see threads out of place.

I'm really tempted to start deleting posts randomly thrown into General.

'General' seems like such a subjective term, by making numerous specific sections designed to keep threads out of general, your just asking for it by making it the top most thread, maybe bump it down to the middle of the page?

You could always drop the General Forum down to the bottom of the list. That way everyone can enter their party's extension or select from the following options before they can dial "0" for the operator

Perhaps rename it to "Other" or something of the sort instead of "General"? It will get more of its expected traffic then, since people tend to look over other sections before posting in an "Other" forum (and since the same isn't true for a forum called "General", which sounds like a dumping ground).

I've moved the General forum close to the end of the forum listings (just below the TappedOut forum) so users have to scroll through the important forums before reaching General. I'll leave it there for a while to test whether the number of misplaced posts decreases.

So if I ask a question about how flavorful annilator and awesome it is for the eldrazi and i heard it'll be back in the next set featuring eldrazi, and do I have to sac creatures only to it instead of something else, should I post this in q&a, spoilers and rumors, lore or general? (Ok, just being an ass, I know it shouldn't be back and that you can sac any permanent you control).
