To the people who write "subbing" on a thread
TappedOut forum

There's a "Subscribe" button right below the text box where you write out responses. It will sub you and automatically give you updates without you requiring to post in the thread.
I'm not trying to be an ass. I just notice people do it commonly and questioned if people ever noticed. It seems a lot of questions are asked here on a weekly basis that could be answered by just clicking a few extra links.
I see it more of a statement to let people know there is an interest in what's being said without adding to the conversation.
Sure, the subscribe button exists, but there's no way to tell how many people are actually subbed to a discussion.

I agree with what meecht said. I don't personally do it, but I can see myself doing it with a new thread with no comments.
also canterlotguardian, missed opportunities right? I can see it now, this entire thread, 15 pages long, all of it with "subbing" as the only comment.

Nope, canterlotguardian. It's already too late. You ruined it. =D
Being the sarcastic jerk I am, after seeing the title I immediately came to post "subbing". Unfortunately I didn't see the thread until it had been out too long. So yeah.
Oh, by the way... unsubbing

It's like that infernal "First!" phenomenon. People are compelled to post asinine comments that contribute nothing to the conversation at large. It's like for the most part, they're (mostly) rational human beings, but as soon as you put them in front of a keyboard and computer monitor, they turn from rational to blathering idiots.
Go to any public Internet forum out there. You will see exactly what I mean.
