I am interested in implementing user-to-user messaging/chat.
Please read the full thread before replying and do not state your opinion multiple times =)
1) I want to have an inbox style receipt of message but also a chat interface, kinda like facebook does it.
2) I am not interested in showing your 'status' or any indication that you have received a message.
3) I may limit messages somehow. Like, I could imagine lots of people shooting off rapid fire requests for deck help.
Your thoughts?
Maybe make it so it has to be between users who are "friends" on here? That way you couldn't get deck help spam from random people.

I could see the friends thing working. Like, "Yes, I am okay with receiving messages from these people."

I think it sounds like a good idea. Probably between friends would be the best way to organise it.

I like this. It makes for more quick communication than waiting for a reply on your wall.

Seems like a sweet deal. However, I don't believe that limiting the messages would be necessary. I mean, is really going to be that bad if there are some "rapid fire requests for deck help". I can't see that realistically happening more 2-3 times per day at the very most, and even so, that only takes like ~10 minutes if that user even chooses to acknowledge it.

This sounds like a pretty awesome idea actually. I agree with the friends only thing, that would stop people from spamming messages all the time. I don't think there would have to be a message limit of sorts if it was only between friends on the site. That way, if someone did spam someone, all they would have to do is remove them as a friend. Although, as Blakkhand said, I doubt it would be a problem anyways.

Don't we have a "friends" function on here? It doesn't seem like it gets used much, but that could be one solution to avoid spamming, you can only message your friends. I would be interested in some kind of effort like that to create more personal interactions/connections between users.
