on my profile it shows points wtf it for

The points and rank are basically a measure of how active you are on the site. Points are given for answering Q&A questions, suggesting cards, adding cards etc. As the iconic picture from Ohthenoises says "Welcome to TappedOut where the decks are made up and the points dont matter." ...or something like that. Anyways though, it doesn't really matter all too much.

Points are an indicator of your site activity, and they influence your site rank. The top 100 users (based on point totals) can customize their titles.

The benefits are basically getting the title customization as well as some extra credibility. In trades and what not, people are much more likely to trust you if you're a well-known user.
