Why I will never turn off adblock for tappedout
TappedOut forum

I love this website it gives me a great slate to create decks on and easily check prices on cardhoarder or tcgplayer. I love adblock because it stops the many ads that push through on every website. I enjoy this website enough to turn off adblock on it off but i wont. I refuse to because for the longest time whenever i updated a deck I got an annoying notification that said adblock have caused user errors with deck building which is just a blatant lie. If it instead said Please turn off adblock to support us it would have been off immediately but instead ill deal with the notification and they'll deal without the money from my ad revenue

While I cannot say for sure, I'm fairly certain that AdBlock was causing issues for a brief period, and they have been since address.
I mean, you do you. However, I hope you have evidence for your claim if you're going to throw out a demeaning accusation.

I also used to use adblock, and noticed the "adblock causes deck construction errors" notification. As I never experienced any errors, though, I didn't turn it off. However, a couple of days ago, when yeaGO posted that TappedOut needs the ad revenue, I immediately turned it off. Why? Because TappedOut is a free service, and I want to support it in any way I can. I already upgraded as a way to show my support, but $5 isn't anywhere near the true value of the things you can do with this website. Besides, the ads here aren't even the kind you get on many other websites - where they pop up over the website content and you have to hit "X" to get rid of them - they're just off to the side. If you want to say that you're actually grateful for the service TappedOut provides you for free, turn off adblock.

What was the point of shitposting this? You're obviously going to get flamed by people who appreciate the site.

You have 14 posted decks, you have a T/O rating over 3,000 and you have a helper rating of 0. Additionally, you've been with the site for 1 year and you're going to make those accusations? Really? Yeah, ok dude. Yeago, Epoch and MANY other users work extremely hard to make this site work well so before you start making these kinds of claims, do some research.
TL;DR Don't shitpost when you're ignorant.

Quick question, ads don't generate any revenue if they aren't clicked, correct? I know that's how YouTube works (as far as giving revenue to the content creator), so I'm assuming it works like that here as well. But if it works simply by showing up, then that's even better.

Ad revenue depends on agreed terms. A lot are like 0.50 or less per 1000 views, some are click through only. So a frequent user will add a little coin a month from their usage if ad blocker is turned off. But added up, it is prob enough to cover expenses. And as this is the main stream of revenue for this site I would never use ad block on it. As with anything that cost money to maintain, when the money dries up, so will this site.

I used to not run an adblocker at all. I figured that the least I could do for all the free content I use is allow the creator to get ad revenue. The video ads on this site is why I installed one. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is with them but they were lagging out my computer so badly that even when they were off screen the text boxes for typing comments would lag 5-10 seconds behind my typing.
I might disable adblock again if the video ads are ever done away with. Until that time it is staying on.

I have to agree with Gidgetimer. The video ads are super annoying. While I personally can't disable adblock for TappedOut (Adblock+ for internet explorer won't let you turn off for certain sites), I would consider using a different browser for TappedOut (I use firefox for most media content anyway) if the annoying videos went away.

what a vitriolic and unnecessary post.
Its downright disrespectful the the site creator who we all know and love (Yeago)
you use the service he has spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on, himself and you've never contributed towards the effort he has put forth. this is apparent by your username being defaulted.
Your sense of entitlement and unwelcome sharing of baseless opinion sums up pretty much everything wrong with the internet.
You get a gold star

Pardon me, but its not a blatant lie at all. In fact, you can do your own research there are lots of examples of AdBlock causing issues with the functionality of websites. I can forward you the many correspondences I had over several months, and many people kept reporting that their deck changes would not save, and that pausing AdBlock magically seemed to fix their issue. It was not meant to threaten people to disable AdBlock, but rather, to warn people if they were running into the same issue and to give them a quick workaround.
