Yet another suggestion

TappedOut forum

I have found a few times recently that I would like to be able to link directly to previously-published articles. I here make my supplication, along with an offering of burnt Beta dual lands to the mighty site god. May he grant his favor.

Hah. Do you mean link with brackets in comments? If so, consider your wish granted sometime before the sun rises next.

this made me lol. a lot.

this might be a crappy suggestion, but what about a chat feature like the one on the draft page, that would go on the home page. announcing or looking for drafts, looking for people to test with (hint hint) talk about deck ideas and such. along with that, having an optional p2p chat while you test a deck. being able to send a message to a certain tappedout member without the world seeing it, opening up the ability to playtest with other people.

that and is there anyway you could put a minimize button on the draft chat? i have trouble seeing all the cards in my hand without the window being stretched out quite far.

Heh.

well I know I'm disappointing alot of people but I doubt play testing will ever have a multi person component. such a feature could put the whole project at risk and honestly it would naturally lead down a slippery slope of feature requests that would amount to mtgo2, which nobody pays me enough to do :)

I am curious what the draft chat shows now because it ought to have a minimize feature. Care to send me a screen shot??

@yeago Yep, that's exactly what I had in mind.

@jonny Wizards tends to be fairly defensive when it comes to intellectual property issues. Best not to tempt them.

thats understandable about your lack of pay, but saying that having a p2p chat open while playtesting a deck would put the whole site at risk is a gross overstatement. im in the web business, and that would pose no more risk than having the chat window open in draft. as for the slippery slope, stand your ground as the, or one of the, webmasters and say look: some stuff is just too complicated too time consuming and too much like another site for me to be comfortable with doing that. especially with like.. no pay for the work that im doing. people will respect that.

and if i were you, i would set up a "donate" page. set up buttons for people with a paypal account to donate in increments of $1, $5, $10, $15, and $20. those would be direct links to a confirm purchase page in their paypal account to deposit.

on the page reiterate the feature token bonuses you get and i leave the original info on the extras page, but i really see a benefit to having a specific "donate" page. it makes the other person feel more compelled to give like you need it.

draft chat is fine, ive only done it a few sparse times so i could have just hit it on a buggy day last time.

thanks a lot for the work and the site. it really is awesome. ill be sure to keep the donations coming (as soon as i get paid again, hah) and ive told everyone i know that plays mtg about it so hopefully i can help get you a little more cash flow.

@jonny What he means is probably not that it would be too time-consuming or resource-intensive, but rather that we'd be approaching a little too closely to a site feature that Wizards might view as infringement, which might result in lawyer deployments, which might risk the site. It's always a concern with Wizards, though I love them so; draft.bestiaire.org appears to be their latest casualty.

Not sure if bestiaire is down due to server problems (they've had tons) or some other reason. FYI.

Johnny, not ignoring you just gotta get something done on TappedOut by tonight. =)

Caley Caley Caley... you already can do it... kinda. Just use the slug... or is it a pain to look-up?

Ooh, I can do it using double brackets? You're right though, I can always do an HTML link at least.
