How does buying/selling/and trading work on this site. I am new and am hoping to sell and trade here but need to know how it all works.

Usually people prefer trades which, in that case, you post an offer to someones binder or someone does the same to you then you work out the trade, exchange emails, exchange addresses through the emails and then send the cards through the mail. Usually new users are asked to send first to avoid any scams as this has happened before.

As for sales money is usually agreed on either paypal or concealed cash or whatever other way money can be exchanged, once a payment is received then the other person sends the cards

I wrote an article about this a while ago.

It's a pretty informal process. Everything is between you and the other user; the administrative team takes no responsibility for trade interactions between users.

If you're newer and trying to trade with older users, they will often have you send your cards first to confirm the trade. Pay close attention to the Vouch system. Anyone who has been vouched for has (allegedly) completed a good trade. The more vouches, the more reliable.

That's not to say that someone without any vouches will rip you off, but it's a good place to start.

Are there things I need to be on the lookout for to tell if someone is or isn't trustworthy?

If someone has a day-old account and a seemingly too-good-to-be-true trade offer, definitely be wary of him/her.

A good rule of thumb is that if someone has an upgraded account (and has a different color name), then that means the person paid money to this website and is less likely to just run off with your cards.

Again, that doesn't mean it can't/won't happen, but trading things over the internet on little more than the honor system means decreasing the odds of getting screwed wherever you can.

I usually scan users' walls to see if there is any recent feedback from trades. There won't always be, but if I see posts like "I haven't gotten my cards yet," I know to be careful. Also, users who have new accounts and only seem interested in trading should be viewed as suspicious until they can prove to be reliable.

Users with lots of vouches tend to be more trustworthy.

You can also use the way others communicate to determine who to work with. If another user seems incompetent with trade procedure or tries to rush you or others, you probably shouldn't initiate a trade with him or her.
