Should I trade my Purphoros, God of the Forge for a Stormbreath Dragon ? I kinda need the drag its a good drop in my red/green aggro deck but idk

I don't see Purphoros dropping anytime soon, but I do with the Dragon. However neither will change until a tournament is held.

The god is just soo useful in certain situations but the dragon has just all around power house. There are so many pros and cons to this eh ill make the trade my friend will probably trade back if I dont like it

The way I see it, Stormbreath Dragon is a Hypersonic Dragon with Pro-white, and without hypersonic's decent ability. I see stormbreath dragon's price dropping significantly, it is NOT a Thundermaw Hellkite replacement.

Stormbreath Dragon is not really what I'd call a powerhouse. It's probably going to see play in RG midrange because it's one of the only options after rotation, but it is lackluster in a vacuum. It's a 4/4 with an expensive monstrous cost and a somewhat underwhelming triggered ability. It's not a bad card, per se, but it isn't as strong as Purphoros, God of the Forge (at least, not in my opinion).

Stormbreath Dragon has quite a few options (more than mentioned here, I can jund control/midrange abusing him also), but it will mainly be a sideboard card. where as Purphoros, God of the Forge is a build around me card and will see play in many decks (most notably in american control with Assemble the Legion ), but he will be a 2-3 of in most decks. Money value wise I think purphorus is a better card. Long term, I think Stormbreath Dragon will see more play outside of standard (again mostly as a sideboard card). that pro-white is important in other formats.

Purphoros, God of the Forge is in the position a lot of cards see right as they are released. He will either see extensive play in tournament-winning decks because of his strength, or he will fade into the "casual deck" realm. Based on his uniqueness and reliability, I would say he's more likely to be on the high end than the low end. There's also a fringe chance that he'll see play in eternal formats as a build-around-me card.

Stormbreath Dragon is a decent card. People have overvalued him because they are trying to replace their Hellkites with it, but he's not nearly the powerhouse that Thundermaw was. I can see Stormbreath dropping significantly in price over the next few months. It will stop seeing play as soon as anything else viable is seen.
