The Trading Post forum

Not sure if this is the right spot for it, and if it isn't, I apologize. I also apologize for how potentially creepy this may sound.

I'm new to the world of trading, or rather, I'm interested in getting into the world of trading. I have a lot of cards I don't use, and am interested in finding them a new home.

I think of my cards the way I think of my kids: I like em, and they're kinda cool, but I'd love to trade them for ones I'm not tired of. (I joke... kinda)

My thing is, I haven't warmed up to the idea of doing this sort of thing by mail. I don't trust the postal service (if I had a dollar for every time I've received something damaged, I'd have like 35 dollars) and it's something I need to warm up to, as I know that using the post is the way to get the best deals.

As I baby step my way towards that, I propose this: I am interested in meeting people that have stuff to trade and happen to live in the Phoenix area (I'm in Tempe myself). I'd like to meet said person in a neutral location where I cannot be kidnapped or kidnap (like a card/comic shop) and do the trade there, in person.

As I type this, I realize it sounds kinda scary, but I'm not really a scary guy (or so my mom says), and I figure it would also give me an opportunity to meet some other MtG players and maybe even broaden my playgroup. On top of that, it eliminates the chance someone is gonna bolt with the cards.

I understand this is a balsy idea, but if you're interested, let me know. I can arrange a list of my cards that I'm willing to part with in exchange for the same.

if your gonna trade by mail look for people who have alot of vouches that way you know who is trust worthy, if u put some stuff you have alot to trade id be open to trade if anything. But ive never had a problem on the site and all my trades have gone smoothly

It's nothing against the site at all. I'm convinced my mailman is just a huge ass, and loves to damage our mail. The last time I ordered deckboxes from the net, they were smashed. This is a common occurrence.

If you're looking to trade in the Tempe area, why not stop by the stores during tournament hours with a binder of trades.

I've considered it, but the location I go to is a madhouse the few Friday Nights I've gone there while FNM is going on. I did go this past Sunday, but everyone was busy playing Table Top RPGs and no one was doing anything MTG related.

You can always call/visit your local Game Daze and see if they offer any kind of tournament and bring your trades there. (I personally run the tourneys at the Arrowhead location and am located in N. Phx That said it'd be helpful to put up a binder or make a deck with your "Haves" and the Sideboard your "Wants"

I'm working on it currently, actually. I didn't know Game Daze did anything mtg related. It's been YEARS since I've been in one (I think it was one in PV Mall) and I only remember board games.

Doh. I'd be interested in doing something EDH related on a Fri or Sat (preferrably Sat) night. My career doesn't really give me time for much doing the week. Looking to extend my playgroup past the one person I usually play with and figured it'd be a good opportunity. FNM at the places near me are batshit insane and the few times I've gone I haven't even been able to sit or even hear myself. Lotta nerdlings in Tempe.

Well that's only due to the fact ASU is there lol and loads of kids have tuition monies to spend and free time to kill lol I just built (well finishing up building) my first EDH deck and am looking to play it somewhere (No friends currently around me play EDH)

Lemme know if you're ever on this side of town and wanna meet up somewhere like Samurai for an EDH match or three. I'm always down to play some cards barring my work schedule. I myself just recently finished my first EDH deck (10th Man Down) and would love an opportunity to play it IRL.
