His . Is that a fair trade? Good trade? Bad trade?

Wasteland s are worth more than any one standard card at the moment, so you really shouldn't be looking to trade them for 1 Standard card, no matter how good that card seems. Eternal formats jack up the price of a lot of older cards, so that most Standard cards do not even compare.

Eternal staples also retain value. Standard cards are much more fickle - what's worth $50 today will drop to $25 or less in a month's time. Unless I'm getting something I need or it's a great deal, I won't trade away my legacy-playable cards for standard ones.

Epochalyptik they were just the Tempest Wastelands. The guy says they are worth $8. I was like, I reallyyyy don't think so. However, if you would sell me a Wasteland for $8, I'll be more than happy to purchase that. THANK YOU E!

KorApprentice THANK YOU TOO! Man, these trades that I was declining was seriously giving me a guilty conscious.

I, too, would scoop up an $8 Wasteland considering I have not seen one for less than $50, even the normal Tempest ones. And not a problem, it is a pleasure to help another user dodge a $50 bullet.

You know the funny part, is that I was cleaning my room before Superbowl and I have the 4 row of commons and uncommons and so I was browsing thinking, I wonder if this is expensive, and randomly looked up Wasteland (why do I know that name) and they are in PERFECT shape! I just you know, never used them lol. It's been in my box since 1997. Thankfully, I started playing MTG again last year.

I'll pick up Wastelands at $8 all day long, but I honestly would've been insulted if someone tried to offer me this trade. I've never seen a Wasteland go for less than $35, even when it's beat to hell.

No problem. Whenever something doesn't sound right in a trade, always remember that you aren't obligated to finalize anything. If you think someone's trying to shark you or something's wrong about an offer, just decline it.
You can also offer to look up the prices of the cards if you have a smart phone or computer available. This approach has the added benefits of establishing you as a fair trader and deterring scammers from trying to trade with you.

Absolutely terrible. Even if you assume Sorin, Lord of Innistrad
to be $50 (going by SCG prices), you're still losing approximately $53. If your Wasteland
s are promo, then it's double or triple that deficit.
Be wary of ever trading with this player again.
