Why has Liliana of the Veil skyrocketed in value to ~$45?

Sees play in eternal formats, and Innistrad has recently gone out of print.

She's used in every format and they just stopped printing Innistrad.

Imagine her price after the 6 or so months post rotation...

anyone think Geist of Saint Traft or Huntmaster of the Fells Flip will follow suit and jump up in price? They are used across formats as well, maybe not as widely as Liliana of the Veil , but still.

Geist of Saint Traft will likely just sit right where he's at, if not slide down a bit post-rotation. He's not too huge in Modern, and almost unheard of in Legacy.
Snapcaster Mage 's price will inevitably fall some the closer we get to rotation, but its price, like Liliana's, will just steadily increase with time. It'll be good forever.

Geist of Saint Traft will end up seeing a lot of play in legacy as it is still really hard to deal with. So I think its price will slowly go up and especially the foil versions.

If Geist hasn't already been seeing play in Legacy in the 18 months he's been out, he's not about to.
Hexproof does not a good Magic card make.
Legacy would rather just play a Knight of the Reliquary turn-3.

So which cards currently in standard are going to make like Liliana of the Veil and jump through the roof in value post rotation?
I was surprised to see the price on Innistrad booster boxes jump to $150.

That's because Innistrad went out of print, mostly, and it's the only place to find Geist of Saint Traft , Liliana of the Veil , Snapcaster Mage , Garruk Relentless Flip , Champion of the Parish , and the dual-lands.

I know there are lots of good cards within Innistrad (I purchased several boxes). I guess my question is whether it's typical to see such a substantial price jump in boxes or individual cards immediately after they go out of print.
If this is normal, then is it safe to say that Avacyn Restored and Dark Ascension will also jump in price? Will cards like Restoration Angel , Huntmaster of the Fells Flip also jump? When return to ravnica goes out of print with the shocklands, Deathrite Shaman , Abrupt Decay , jace, etc. also jump in value? Or will they tend to fall in prices and Innistrad is an exception to the rule because it has so many great cards? I haven't been back into Magic long enough to know what to expect.

Sets with good cards will always be more expensive than they were while they were in print. See: Zendikar, Worldwake, Rise of the Eldrazi.

I have 3 and I am currently starring at half an unopened booster box of Innistrad. Just cleaned out Walmart and am hoping to pull some new goodies

Oh what I would give for packs of Innistrad, everything has been sold out of it for over a month where I am. So Dark Ascension has been my packs of choice lately.

The best things to come out of dark ascension were Huntmaster and the Aristocrat. Everything else is...meh to me

I'll give you Sorin...he does some good things. I don't really think he does anything overwhelming, though, since his -2 is too tempting to ever get his ultimate off. Thalia...straight up meh. My opinion of Thalia is that she has a niche that she works in and once the game goes beyond the first few turns her niche loses more and more value. He first strike is relevent against much fo the aggro around right now, but I just don't see her performing as well as the the other cards int he set that are great. She has been losing value like buts lately.
April 18, 2013 12:14 a.m.
If you think Thalia's power goes down as a game progresses against Control, you've clearly never been on the business end of one.

Also, Sorin's -2 can just win you the game, especially if you cast and flashed back a Lingering Souls the turn prior.

The Sorin and Huntmaster are what I was mostly after, but I like Drogskol Reaver as well
April 18, 2013 4:58 a.m.
I guess my personal play style effects what I think seems a card meh...but even though Thalia doesn't get my vote as a top tier it has never stopped me from using her. She was the win con in my g/w aggro stalling long enough to avoid the turn 4 board wipe. She has a place...I just feel on e the mana base is stabilized she is less effective
