Hi there! I'm starting my own Pack to Power journey with a pack of Gatecrash, and was hoping some people would help me trade up to a Jace, the Mind Sculptor! Any trade offers will be taken, and can be PMed to me on my Youtube channel.

Yeah, that may be true, but I'd hate to come off as rude and rip people off in trades. If people want to help me do this, then it's best to be respectful towards them, instead of harsh. At least, that's the way I see it, haha.
But, regardless, I appreciate the comment.

It's certainly a fair perspective, but I have a different interpretation of the process.
That said, I advise you to start trading straight into the Modern crowd. Because you opened a Breeding Pool , you can begin getting Modern staples, which will make the it much easier for you to trade directly into a JTMS. You can use the Ghor-Clan Rampager and Boros Elite to slowly begin accruing Standard value as well.

That is completely understandable.
And I was actually wondering about what format I should trade into, because my metagame is generally Standard and I haven't done much of others, except Casual. I figured trading Ghor-Clan Rampager and Boros Elite for Standard would be the best bet, though, because of Humans and Naya Blitz.. Thanks for the tip, though, I'll be sure to keep it in mind. Would you have suggestions on what types of decks to focus on?

I meant as in cards from Modern decks, haha. But I managed to find a few popular ones, so I have a general idea of what to look for.

If you want to do any serious kind of trading, you should remain up-to-date on the top decklists in each of the major formats. The cards in those lists are going to be popular. Also, being attuned to the changes happening or likely to happen in each of these formats will give you an edge when it comes to speculating.

You buy a booster pack and trade cards from it to get other cards, then trade those cards up to a more valubule card.

The Breeding Pool has been traded out! For it, I recieved a Sublime Archangel and a Path to Exile from the Venser vs. Koth Duel Decks.

You don't need to deceive or shark people, but I can't really be impressed with anyone who does P2P by effectively asking for donations. You might as well just do fat pack to power at that point.

Well, that's the point. I have no desire for one of the Power 9 cards at the time, plus this is my first time trying this, so I wanted to get a grasp of how to do this right. Maybe in the future I would trade for a Time Walk or Ancestral Recall , but for now I'm focusing on acquiring JTMS.
And I don't consider it cheating. In many of the Pack to Power journeys I read, the traders told the other party what their quest was is they didn't know. So I don't see what is wrong with that.

There isn't really anything "wrong" with it, per se. I just feel that a challenge meant to test your resourcefulness and trading skills shouldn't include, in my view, asking for donations or aid.

I'm not asking anyone to help me or give donations. I make a trade offer with them, and if they don't want to make it, I take my binder and move to the next. I asked if he would trade the Path because they are played in my metagame for Modern, from what I have seen, and Sublime is pretty popular in B/W exalted. He thought it was a good trade, because he needed the Breeding Pool for his Momir Vig EDH. So we both felt like it was a good trade in terms of playability, as opposed to prices.

I think you're misunderstanding me.
Trading has a lot to do with psychology and sociology. Telling someone that you are trying to do a P2P challenge has a high chance of doing one of two things:
- Biasing the traders to not trade with you. The other traders will realize that P2P means they will likely be losing on value, and that means a trade is likely not worth pursuing. (Competitive or value traders.)
- Biasing the traders to help you. The other traders will recognize that P2P is difficult to do, and they may make trades they normally wouldn't make - trades that help you along in your quest. (Sympathetic or "playability" traders.)
Again, it isn't wrong to mention P2P to the people with whom you're trading. However, my interpretation of P2P is that it is a challenge, and biasing the field takes away the challenge.

Ah, now I see what you mean. You do present a good point, though it's not nessicarily something I agree with. But, reflecting on how my first trade went, I see how you could think that. Perhaps I'll try and trade without mentioning it's P2P next time, haha.

So far, I've only made one trade (due to being at my local card shop only an hour, and having said card shop be a good drive away), but my experience has been good. It seemed really fun, and I wanted to give it a try. If you decide to do this, let me know what your pack is, I'm curious as to what others are going to try. :)

I did something like this a while ago. Turned an Elvish Archdruid and some random jank, including a foil signet, into an Italian FBB Volcanic Island , which I sold. I'm familiar with the process.

I appreciate that, really. :) And I'm planning on making it to my local shop soon, though I might make a trade with another player at school tomorrow. I didn't go today because I was out sick, but that is where a majority of my trades are made. If I make any trades, I will immediately update.

I'm not sure how I feel about that trade. You did technically increase the monetary value of your collection, but that isn't the only concern you need to address - especially when doing P2P. You also need to consider the relative usability of the cards on each side. You may have some difficulty trading away cards like Luminate Primordial , Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord , and White Sun's Zenith . The Luminate Primordial in particular seems like it will be difficult to move.
Then again, everything is circumstantial. You may have players in your area who want those cards, or it may have been one of your only opportunities to trade away the Sublime Archangel .

Actually, in my area, people like the Primordials for EDH, haha. And I haven't seen a foil one around. As for the Jarads, they're being traded tomorrow, though for what I am not sure.
And the White Sun wasn't the best idea, but I'm hoping I'll turn it around somehow.

Gnarlicide: I actually just got back from visiting a friend of mine, and the Path to Exile was traded away... However, in its place are a Jace, Memory Adept, Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind from the Duel Deck and a Steam vents. Sorry about that,if I had been home, I would have seen your messaage.
