Selling all of my Rares/Mythics in my binder

The Trading Post forum

Posted on Jan. 11, 2013, 8:39 p.m. by veladem

I will sell all of my rares/mythics for $65.00 firm. That is under CSI prices of almost $80 and also under SCG prices of a little over $85.00.

I will part out and sell singles, but only if the sale is over $5.00

Thanks, need to pay for rent, college, food, and of course GtC :D

Epochalyptik says... #2

No offense, but that's a little unrealistic. Your binder is almost all bulk; there isn't really anything worth paying that much for.

veladem says... #3

Yes, but, I went under what it's worth. And everyone that plays knows that someone will need every single one of these cards at some point to either have fluff to trade with or fill out a set etc.

And yes, it's bulk because I'm not using these cards. Most are singles, 60% give or take are older.

How bout this $65.00 Or Best Offer.

As I said. Getting thin on rent etc.

Epochalyptik says... #4

It's realistically not worth $30. Bulk usually sells at, well, bulk rates. And the trader's myth (someone somewhere needs something you have) doesn't apply to bulk.

Here's my best offer: your entire binder for 15 bucks. You have 147 cards listed, so that assumes a bulk rate of ~10 per card. Which is generous, considering some of the cards you have posted are bulk commons, and I have no idea what the conditions of any of them are. And I would give half upfront and half on receipt of cards, because you've been on the site for a week. And I would pay via PayPal, because I don't want to write two checks, I don't trust the USPS with my cash, and I don't trust strangers with my credit card information.

And no offense, but if you're tight on money for rent, food, and college, I'm not sure why you intend to buy Gatecrash product. I tend to value food, shelter, and education above cardboard, personally.

veladem says... #6

@ xantm70 Lol. No way, I've had better Craigslist offers than that. Thanks though.

You do realise that just the;

Ball Lightning $4

Hellspark Elemental $1.50

Elvish Archdruid $2

Nether Traitor $3 but it is Russian, so maybe more maybe less. (Couldn't find it online.)

Goblin Chieftain $2.50

Counterlash $2

Odric, Master Tactician $1.50

And than add one of the many random $0.49c cards comes out to $15.00?

And those ARE SCG prices.

So, I'm not that tight on rent. Actualy, I shouldn't be tight on rent at all or food. I should say I really want a GtC box so I can give up a few steaks :P

You're not going to get market prices selling dollar rares that half the players at any given FNM will have in their binders. On top of that, you can't possibly expect to get market value on all the other cards that nobody needs to begin with. None of your cards are significant, really; they aren't in demand, and they aren't particularly powerful or playable.

Okay, feels like this thread is getting a little heated. I'm going to say that since I created the thread, I'm also closing it. Of course I can't stop people from posting that want to post, but I'm not coming back to this thread.

If anyone would like to make trade offers or cash offers, I am not selling at "market" prices as stated from another user. I'm selling at about 20-25+% off SCG prices.

Thanks!

Oh, shoot, we might have another problem. You don't have a disclosed location, and you only trade locally--at least, as of a week ago, according to this. You also have no cards, as of a week ago, at least, so it says here. And you have no trades at all, according to those sites. And yet 9 days later, you're asking for Vexing Devils and the like in exchange for things like Baneslayer and shocklands, and then you want to sell the rest of your binder for way more than it's worth.

This is also odd because normally, you can't have a trade binder on tapped out unless you've been a member for 60 days, and as I mentioned, you've been here for a week.

Now, I'm not calling you a scammer or a hacker, because that would be libelous and presumptuous of me. It could be that you're perfectly honest and have impeccable integrity, and there could be a bug that let you create a binder early. But I will say that something here smells fishy. And it's not my lox sandwich.

I can simply hope that you do, in fact, deliver on your current promised trades. Until I see some vouches, however, I'm rescinding my offer.

Finally, it's good to hear that you're not in dire need of rent or food money. However, you may find a diet of steak to be difficult to get if it's contingent upon selling your current binder online. Perhaps if you go to your LGS, they would offer you a better price than me.

Wow, those accounts are fairly new. Well first off, and yes I know I said I wouldn't post in here again, but this is shocking to say the least.

1 This is the only card site I use.

2 I have 1 person who got a successful trade -- Fleetfiend Or? Is that also me?

3 I'm pretty sure yeaGO! unlocked my binder in good faith because I gave him my word that I am a good person in general, and that I really am just trying to get back into the game.

So, I'm, not a hacker, I'm not a scammer, and KevinLS is going to get all the cards that he wanted from the trade, and a couple extras for being the second person I have traded with on here. And the trade I'm doing with KevinLS is around $50 worth of cards.

And yes I realize you didn't directly call me a scammer, or hacker. Though I do have some knowledge of Python coding, just a pinch, which has nothing to do with hacking, I don't think . . .

But I do have to say, yeaGO! will not be displeased that he opened my binder way early. I understand that this site has never had to remove someone from it's ranks, that is amazing, simply amazing. And I congratulate yeaGO! on that achievement and applaud all the work he has put into this site.

January 12, 2013 12:18 a.m.

veladem says... #11

Oh, and btw, I do want Vexing Devil s. However I wasn't the one that chose the cards from my binder that KevinLS wanted. He chose those cards. And they are great cards, I have no use for them right now though, so, maybe they can go to a better home that will use them?

Then welcome aboard. I simply did some homework and tried to put 2 and 2 together. If I got five, then time will bear that out. But this site is a target for scams, and people have been ripped off time and again, myself included.

You have every right to take affront to what I said. I understand that, and I apologize. If the shoe were on the other foot, I, too, would feel on the spot. But from the vantage point of someone who has dealt with thieves in the past, I can only hope you understand that my intent was not to cause offense, but rather to try to protect other members of the community from a series of unfortunate events--especially in light of the fact that you have precious little documented trade experience and are dealing with fairly substantive sums of money and/or product.

So, to close, mea maxima culpa, and happy trading.

January 12, 2013 12:31 a.m.

veladem says... #13

Of course, but where does one start if not as a padawan? :D

And I see how this site could be such an easy target! Many users from different backgrounds across the globe, I get it, I really do. But in time people will see that I'm just trying to scrape buy without buying too many cards, save for maybe box from a new set, and I'll slowly have more and more trades :D

PS: If I were in your shoes, I would do the same. :D

!Es mi culpa, asi!

January 12, 2013 12:39 a.m.

A few things I should clear up:

1) The waiting period for new traders has been reduced from 60 days to 45 days.

2) We actually have removed people from the site for scamming, hence the waiting period (which is a fairly new thing).

As far as the MTGS and DeckBox accounts, forgive me for hesitating to believe you on that one. As far as I know, your username isn't a reference to something (at least not something most people recognize), and the recent creation of those accounts is congruous with the recent creation of your account here. I find it unlikely that someone else would take your username to create puppet accounts with on other Magic sites.

Also, don't take my directness as anything more than directness. It's how I tend to be; I'm not trying to incite anything or heat the discussion.

January 12, 2013 12:43 a.m.

xantm70 says... #15

Swell. I'm glad that worked out amicably. :) And if you want advice, Padawan, I suggest you consult Master Epochalyptik. He's one of the chief admins, as well as a de facto rules judge (though not de jure), a genius at EDH, and--perhaps pertinently--a professional trader and buyer of MtG cards. I am one of the lesser Jedi on the site. You know, like Ki-Adi-Mundi to Epoch's Yoda.

veladem says... #16

HAHAHAHAHA yes. Awesome. :P

And to tell you the 100% honest truth, I have no clue why people take my username, it also happened on Minecraft :/ And a few other places cant remember . . .

Oh, Gmail also, among a few others :/ To tell the truth, I don't even know what Veladem is, other than I like the way it sounds in my own mind, and, it's my username EVERYWHERE :P

Counterlash is 36 cents, not $2. lol

http://magiccards.info/query?q=counterlash&v=card&s=cname

If you want to sell something on the internet where everyone is a complete stranger, then it would be wise to shut your mouth and simply either decline or accept offers. The more you get into it with potential buyers, the less they will still be interested at the end of the day.

Beggars can't be choosers.

January 12, 2013 1:40 p.m.

veladem says... #19

@ zandl You might want to look at my binder again before you go talking like that, little bit rude seeing as you probably didn't look at my binder, therefore, have no room to talk.

You've been here 2 years, don't turn into a noob/flamer.

PS: SCG is a little better at pricing.

January 12, 2013 2 p.m.

I suggest you both tone it down.

@veladem: I don't see what looking at your binder would solve. Also, Counterlash isn't worth even 50 cents.

January 12, 2013 2:25 p.m.

veladem says... #21

@ Epochalyptik If you look at my binder under description you would notice Counterlash is a foil.

January 12, 2013 2:48 p.m.

zandl says... #22

StarCityGames.com sets their own prices. They are hardly competitive with their prices.

MagicCards.info looks at the average prices of any notable website that sells Magic cards. If only one website can be trusted, it's MagicCards.info.

Foil Counterlash is $1.64, btw.

@ zandl Lol, nice try dude. "Lets change sites and hope they don't notice." I can spell just fine, can you? Or is it just the reading part? One site that you put up is;

classic.magictraders.com

the other;

magiccards.info

Get your stuff straight zandl

January 12, 2013 6:42 p.m.

Chubbub says... #26

Who cares what a foil Counterlash costs except for the person veladem is trading it to. It honestly isn't really worth getting into an argument over 36, $2.00 and $1.63, really small difference.

January 12, 2013 6:50 p.m.

Chubbub says... #27

36 cents is what I meant

January 12, 2013 6:51 p.m.

veladem says... #28

@ Chubbub I understand that, what I don't like about this is that zandl

A) Got on my post and started flaming with "beggars can't be choosers"

Which would have been fine if after I told him to look back at my binder he said, "oh, okay, sorry about the confusion" Or something like that. But, he

B) Didn't want to take the time of day to just look at my binder and read the description . . .

and

C) Said that if one site should be held above other it would be "magiccards.info" but linked to "magictraders.com"

D) I don't go on other peoples posts being negative, and I am a nice person, however, with that said. If you go on my wall, or one of my posts and don't respect me, you wont be respected back. You're only treated how well you treat others.

This post was about my binder, and if in the beginning zandl had looked at my binder and saw that the card was a foil, this most likely would have went smoother OR if when I had said, "refer to binder" or "look at binder" and he saw it was foil and said oh, sorry, in that case, $1.60 or whatever, that would have been fine also.

January 12, 2013 7:05 p.m.

veladem says... #29

Or, it could have also been solved by when I was posting cards and prices that I put "foil" next to it. But oh well, I doubt zandl was interested in a trade or purchase, and just wanted to try to correct someone. But I could be wrong, maybe he does want some of my cards, doesn't seem that way in his want list though, but still possible.

"classic.magictraders.com" is used by "magiccards.info" for foil prices.

I guess we're even now since we both didn't look into what the other was saying the first time.

The next time I piss you off, don't type my name as much. It clogs my feed with unimportant things.
