Blim comedic genius + whip of erebos (and other reanimation spells that exile at the end of turn)
Asked by SilencedDax 8 months ago
Hiiii!!
Just have a question that i do not find the answer along the internet.
The card Whip of Erebos says: "Exile it at the beginning of the next end step. If it would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else". Does this effect applies only If I control the creature or if anyone controls it at the end step?
If it doesn't trigger I can Donate a lot of staff with Blim, Comedic Genius hahahah

Small correction to the above: the Whip's activated ability doesn't give any abilities to the creature it reanimates. The "Exile it at the beginning of the next end step" is a delayed triggered ability generated as part of the activated ability resolving, and "If it would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else" is a continuous effect generated by activated ability resolving. Neither of those effects are written to be dependent on who controls the creature, so that means they will stay in effect no matter who controls it.

The "exile it at the beginning of the next end step"-ability is granted to the creature card, so no matter who controls the card in the end step, it will trigger to be exiled.
You can counter the trigger with a Disallow, that would make it stay (though funnily enough it would still be exiled when it eventually leaves the battlefield).
