Is it cheaper to buy singles online, or could i just go to a wizards store for the same price?
also if it is cheaper what are some good sites? i looked at abugames.com but they completely overpriced basic land cards. then i looked at cardkingdom.com, except when i was about to make my order i was warned about the websites security, normally i dont fret about it, but since i was about to order online i decided not to go through with it.

Like luckyfirefox said, Ebay is a great place to go to buy cards, they are usually much cheaper if you can snipe the bid well.
Also, I usually go to magiccards.info and when you search up a card, it shows you the lowest prices and where you can buy them at for that price.
coolstuffinc.com sells cards that might be a bit more expensive but their shipping is only 99cents.

tcgplayer.com is a great site to compare prices too.

If you like cheap shipping and aren't in the States, trollandtoad.com works best (it's pretty cheap IN the States too). They usually have lower prices on most cards anyway, and if you don't mind them being in 'played' condition, I find that their 'played' cards aren't actually so bad compared to other sites I've bought from.
As for cardkingdom.com... their stuff is expensive, except the odd card here and there. You don't have to worry about any security issues though, as I'm pretty sure it's safe to order from there.
Card stores are good for people like me who don't have the patience to do anything on ebay lol.

If your local store has a dollar rare box or something in that vein, I'd dig through that before going online - you often find some good stuff in there. Most stores will also have $.25 commons and $.50 uncommons which, while the uncommons might cost more than online (depending on the uncommon and shipping), you get the cards immediately.

Great stores:
bidwicket.com store.tcgplayer.com cardshark.com ebay.com
All of these are great because you can get things (generally) for cheaper if you're willing to make an effort. Other stores that are generally slightly more expensive are:
trollandtoad starcitygames lotusvault channelfireball
If you're buying more expensive stuff, it's honestly worth it to check all these sites (I usually do). In general ebay will be the cheapest, but some cards (for example, I recently bought Karakas ), are hard to find on ebay. Cardshark is great for cards like this, and you can often get a fantastic price there.

Good, reliable sites I generally use are:
Starcitygames.com
Trollandtoad.com
strikezoneonline.com
Ebay is good if you have an account and you're use to bidding, but you have to make sure you check the item details thoroughly
A lot of local stores are good for stuff too if you check the prices against some websites beforehand. Once you get a decent relationship with your local shop owner you'll probably get the best deals.
Shopping around a bit is key to finding decent prices on singles, but the standby sites I listed above are usually good too.
