can Ember Hauler prevent two Vampire Lacerators from dealing damage?

I have 2 vampire-lacelator, and my opponent has 1 Ember Hauler . If I attack with both vampires, can he block with Ember Hauler one of them, and use it ability in order to kill the other vampire?

I think so. Because he's assigning the block, it registers as a block, however he's sacrificing him before he can assign combat damage, therefore only the one he targets dies...

NoSkill is correct. You can stop both Lacerators for a turn by doing exactly as you describe - declare blockers, then sac the Hauler and target the unblocked one. Only the targeted one will die, because you have to sac it BEFORE damage is dealt or else it won't be around to be sacced.

Next turn, you'll still have another Lacerator on the opponent's side to deal with, but this would solidly stop them for a turn.
