Can i Redirect Shriekmaw's enter the battlefield ability? Also if i Remand shriekmaw does my opponent still get to kill a creature?

Let's say I have a Redirect in hand and the mana to play it. My opponent on it his turn plays a Shriekmaw and targets my creature, can I then choose one of his creatures to remove instead? Or is that an ability of the creature, not a spell, therefore not counterable with a Redirect ? I'm also assuming if I play a Remand the creature never actually hits the field, thus his effect doesn't go off. Do I have all of this right?

You have the second part of the first question correct. You cannot target Shriekmaw with Redirect ; as a creature spell, it has no targets and isn't a valid target for Redirect . The "destroy a creature" effect is, indeed, an ability and not a spell, and so it too is not a valid target for Redirect .
And yes, if you Remand - or Essence Scatter , or card:Summoner's Bane, or good ol' Counterspell , etc. - the Shriekmaw , the creature spell itself is countered; it never resolves, so the elemental never enteres the battlefield, so its destroy ability never triggers.
(Note that "comes into play" is the old wording for the current phrase "enters the battlefield." Shriekmaw 's current legal wording as found on Oracle says "when Shriekmaw enters the battlefield...")
