Can i use a copy of a spell to interfere with the spell i coppied?

Asked by morgulprince 13 years ago

If my opponent casts Negate and i replicate it, can I use the copy to counterspell the original Negate and cause it to fizzle, or does it have to target a different spell than the one being coppied?

I'm not entirely clear on how you're replicating the Negate, but provided you have a way to copy the negate while it is on the stack and choose new targets for the copy you can indeed have the copy target the spell it is copying.

As far as I'm aware, there are no copy or re-targeting spells that put a limitation on what you can target. So yes, Reverberate , Redirect and Echo Mage can all be used to counter counterspells.
