Can I use Act of treason to gain control of Roil elemental and then landfall roil elemental to gain control of it?

the thoughts here are: act of treason is for only one turn but has haste. so if I wait to drop my land until my second main phase, can I declare the Roil Elemental as the the target creature for its ability.

Essentially you have two effects ongoing on the creature that give you control of the creature, one of them ends at the end of your turn and the other does not.

In short, at the end of your turn the Act of Treason ability ends but Roil Elemental 's ability is still there so you retain control of it.

This is because act of treason doesn't actively return control of the creature to it's owner, it just says you no longer control the creature as a result of it's ability. Since another ability still says you control the creature you keep control.

PS - I'm 100% sure on the ruling now, it's actually specifically mentioned in the gatherer rulings.

Yep, the roil-elelmental's effect would be in place.

Gatherer Ruling :

10/1/2009 You may target a creature you already control with Roil Elemental's ability. This will usually have no visible effect, but it will overwrite any previous control-change effects. For example, if you gain control of Roil Elemental until the end of the turn (with Mark of Mutiny, perhaps), then its landfall ability triggers and you target Roil Elemental itself, you'll gain control of it indefinitely (since its control-change effect will last for as long as you control it).
