Can I use Endless Horizons against my opponent to exile plains from their library?

Asked by joeh717 14 years ago

is there any way i can use endless horizons to exile plains from my opponents library? or is there a better way to do a similar thing?

on a similar note, can i use selective memory and redirect or reverberate to exile opponents cards?

1) Cannot be done, as you control the enchantment, it's only your library you can search and exile from. As far as I'm aware, there's no way to give control of Endless Horizons to your opponent BEFORE it actually enters the battlefield.

2) Again, that word 'your' means it will only affect you, as the controller of the spell. Reverberate will just let you do the same thing twice, for whatever reason you feel you want to, and Redirect doesn't affect it, since the word 'target' doesn't appear on Selective Memory .

All I have to console you with is Sadistic Sacrament . Maybe Bribery or Acquire , if you're into that.

Even if you were to find a way to give your opponent the Endless Horizons , you would still search your library when it comes into play since it doesn't target you. The best way to get rid of an opponents library is using something like Sadistic Sacrament or Supreme Exemplar to get effects that actually say "Search target players library." But if you use something like Twincast or Reverberate to copy your Selective Memory and target your opponent, your opponent would be the one searching his library, not you.

Also, if you give away Endless Horizons, I'm fairly sure you won't be able to get any of the Plains you exiled until you regain control of the enchantment.

@L4DMalus: Not true on the second point, Selective Memory does not target. The word 'target' does not occur on the card. It is an effect carried out by the controller of the spell, which will be you in the original case and you any way you want to copy it. The only way Selective Memory or Endless Horizons can affect your opponent is if they cast Commandeer on them.

...sweet christ, that may just be the greatest play of all time. Mindslaver an opponent, so on their turn you can flash in Selective Memory thanks to Leyline of Anticipation, then exile a Jace and a Counterspell from their hand to cast Commandeer, THEN exile every spell they have left. Beautiful....heavily reliant on your opponent playing blue and having certain cards in hand, but still awesome....

Mindslaver your opponent and give them sen triplets. you'd still need them to have the mana needed for the spells, but as long as you have the spells in hand, they could play them.
