Can Melira's Keepers Beat Infect indefinately?
Asked by deadmanwalking 13 years ago
since infect deals damage as -1 counters, I'd assume that card:Melira's Keepers cant be touched by it at all, but I'd like to be sure. For example if keepers go up against Phyrexian Juggernaut would keepers still win?
it doesnt get the counters on it but if it blocks a deathtouch infecter it will still die

The damage is being done in the form of -1/-1 counters, so a deathtouching infector would be dealing no damage to the card:Melira's Keepers. Therefore no deathtouch activation surely?

Melira's keepers is still getting hit with damage but they cant take counters. so if i deathtoucher comes along the damage hits and then the effect activates. so it would die.

Again, referring to the fact that the infect deals the damage in the form of -1/-1 counters, this would mean that the damage is prevented... Checking on Gatherer though says otherwise, looks like i got that one wrong. It should also be in the FAQ for the set...
Nice and handy to know for future though.
Apologies.

Basically, NO counters can be placed on it, so it can block infect all day long and take no damage. It's what makes this card so good in limited.
