Can Rust Tick keep a card tapped if it is no longer an artifact?

Can Rust Tick keep a card tapped if it is no longer an artifact. For example if I use Liquimetal Coating to turn something into an artifact and then tap it with Rust Tick will it stay tapped the next turn if Rust Tick is still tapped?

It should - Rust Tick 's ability does not check for permanent type after it has finished resolving.

It should work. Rust Tick only checks whether itself if tapped after you activate it, as long as it is an artifact when you trigger it, I would assume it was fine.

Rust Tick taps down the target artifact, and as long as it isn't untapped the said targetted artifact will remain tapped. (and yes, as long as the target at the time is an artifact, it will remain tapped until either Rust Tick is untapped, or Rust Tick is destroyed or the targetted permament is bounced/destroyed/blinked/untapped by other means...)

Even if the artifact creatures turns back into a creature (without artifact attached to it - Thanks to Liquimetal Coating ) at the end of the turn, it's still the same thing that was affected by Rust Tick, and as such will remain tapped.

Another fun trick with Rust Tick is to use Voltaic Key with it to effectively tap down 2 artifacts. You activate the first one, then before the effect resolves, use Voltaic Key to untap Rust Tick and then tap it to put a second trigger on the stack. That way you have now got 2 targets with 1 rust tick on the stack and when they both resolve, you effectively tapped down on a 2-for-1 basis :)

Thanks, that's what I was thinking.

A possibly related question; in a draft, my friend targeted one of my artifacts with a Tick, then in his next turn let it untap and activated it on another artifact. He claimed both stayed frozen because Tick was still tapped during my untap step. Is this true?

From the wording on the card I wouldn't think so. It specifically says "as long as Rust Tick remains tapped". If it untapped then it didn't remain tapped.
