Can you block with a creature of a color that a different creature has protection of?

I know that protection protects the creature from taking damage, but does that also mean you can't block it?

"702.14f Attacking creatures with protection can't be blocked by creatures that have the stated quality."

So, unfortunately, they can't be blocked by creatures that they have protection from.
