can you make your opponent block Turntimber Basilisk if you play it then play a land?

Can you force someone to block the [turntimber-basilisk] if say you play him, then play a land? Thanks.
You can make one creature block it for each Landfall trigger in a turn. But of course, it doesn't have haste, so you need to wait a turn to get anything out of it. If it isn't attacking, it can't be blocked, so that "if able" bit never goes off.

Turntimber Basilisk will have summoning sickness when it enters the battlefield so you can't attack, which means no one would need to block him.
The next turn however.......feel free to play land and swing away.
