can you play Aphotic Wisps on a black creature?

Just 'cause it says: "target creature becomes black". Can something that is already black become black?

Yes, It does not specify that it not be black to make it black. Of course, making a black creature black is pointless, but it works.

Yes. It specifies "target creature," not "target nonblack creature."
